Halcyon

lore notes/rough draft;
-once a noble king near the Hewn City, a terrible incident involving the Shade wiped out his kingdom in a single night and sent him and his family into centuries long hibernation.
-He was woken by his partner, Aurify, to the ruin of his home, his legacy. he is still mourning.
-as the family attempted to recover from their long slumber, they were approached by a strangely shaped "dragon" (allegedly called a "pearlcatcher") named Calliope, who seemed to be incredibly interested in the tales of the hewn empire.
-eventually, calliope confessed their plan to begin a clan of their own, and asked to be allied to the lost king. touched at the offer, the imperial went a step grander and declared the immediate union of the late hewn empire and calliope's clan, "aurorae." (and while an original pearlcatcher may have found this to be rudely assumptive of their lightborn cousin, calliope, created as a guardian, was THRILLED.)
-while halcyon maintains his title of king, he does not have sweeping say over what happens in aurorae. he and his kin are given a voice in legislative affairs, but absolute jurisdiction is a right only the muses have- and even then, they are but conduits for the truthmaker.
-despite lacking the grandeur he once had, halcyon is growing content with a life of simplicity.
