Akijan’s powers as a water mage were detected from a young age, making him a poster boy to be an acolyte of the Tidelord. But as he got older, the expectations thrust upon him caused too much stress, making him run into the ocean to escape his responsibilities. His body then became adapted completely to the ocean and water, which now doesn’t let him stay on the surface for too long, even though he is fascinated by the "dry" world above the waves. But he does always come up when it rains.

On one of his rainy walks he ran into Lagoon, a Guardian who lived in a lone hut on the beach. For some reason, the two of them hit it off well and just clicked. They actually fell head over heels for each other, as if the Tidelord himself had meant for them to be together. Akijan’s love for Lagoon is so immense that he gave her an amulet that contains the spirit of an orca that will protect her no matter where she is, so she’ll be safe even he’s not around. He still has some unresolved childhood issues, but he has Lagoon to help him through it.
