Arulames is the groundskeeper of Caligo University. He works to maintain the beautiful landscape which has been kept by groundskeepers before him for nearly a thousand years, and has proven invaluable in researching the abnormalities of the vale. Sycamore, his most trusted friend and helper, is responsible for the preservation of nearly a dozen of the ground's oldest and most treasured trees.
Sycamore is able to pick up the scent of a sick tree from dozens of yards away. When she does, she quickly jumps onto Arul's horns and springs herself off into the branches to make closer inspection. From there, if she still doesn't have a clear idea of the problem, she can dig her sharp nose into the dirt surrounding the base of the tree and pick up signals from the underground mycelium systems, which can often give her insights into what the tree may be missing. She is then able to relay what she's learned through a quick game of charades which her and Arul have perfected over their decades together, and they can get to work thinking of a solution.
