Buried Colossus
In recent years, the partial collapse of a temple ruin into the sea revealed the scales of an ancient stone colossus buried beneath Requiem's streets. Not long afterward, a portion of the city’s architects began having troubled dreams, waking every night to the sound of a lament rising from the earth, heartbreaking in its beauty and sorrow. Each dragon so afflicted has grown single-mindedly obsessed with excavating the colossus, which is now called Elegy. Portions of Requiem are now given over to scaffolding and rock dust as the shape of this buried giant slowly emerges from the earth amid the city’s graceful white arches and colonnades.
Architects must be careful not to nick Elegy’s stone hide with their chisels, for it will bleed a substance that is molten gold in color, and hardens to the strength of iron.
