Delight

The sun shines brightly, and Delight takes a deep breath. She steps outside of her lair and hears the waves of the sea. A flock of birds flies past her, chirping loudly. The flowers growing on the side of her lair look healthy and happy. It’s another great day!

Delight quickly grabs her stuff and walks into the town. All kinds of animals and flowers greet her, and she greets all of them back. When she comes to the town square, ivy grows over the well and the announcement board is empty. Just like always. Life is just too good for bounties and bargains! Delight strolls along, to the tavern where she works. As she enters it, the bar is already unstaffed. That crazy Doughal, he always leaves before she arrives! Delight puts down her stuff behind the bar, and notices some moss creeping up against the wall. That wasn’t there yesterday, right? “Hello friend!”, she tells the moss, which cheerfully greets her back. Delight loves how her clan is so in touch with nature, that’s why she decided to start living here. She starts cleaning the bar, it’s time for her shift. Better not be tardy!

As per usual, nobody comes to check on Delight. Of course, the tavern keeper knows that Delight is doing her job well though. So it’s not like he has to check on her. Delight does really despise how quiet it is lately though. There’s no customers, and there haven’t been any for a while. Delight has wondered if she should check on the other tavern in town, but then again, she shouldn’t tell the competition about the lack of customers. What if she walks in, and business there is booming? No ,she’s better off here. What if someone walks in?

But nobody does, and at the end of her shift, Delight walks back home. Doughal is late, but it’s fine, he’ll be there soon to take the night shift. Delight waves at the flowers at the side of her lair, who wave back. It was time for bed.
