"DO YOU HAVE ANY ITEMS IN NEED OF REPAIR? CALL #83716051 FOR A QUOTE TODAY!"

UphpjPM.png

Alda is a very special Travelling Dragon, so please refrain from exalting; instead, send her back to lizzytiki #214605. Also, if you would like to host her check out this thread for more details!

U5cf9dn.png
Daughter of a ship mechanic, Alda has spent most of her young life sailing the seas of the thousand currents alongside her dad Taekni on merchant ships from the Shimmering Shallows Isles.

As she's hoping to become a renowned mechanic herself, she's decided why not try to get some experience in as many places as she can with as many different types of machines, tools, and anything that needs a bit of a fix that she can get her hands on!

She's happy to offer her repair services to the clans she visits on her travels in exchange for a meal and some stories! She's currently keeping a log of where she's visited, what she items she's been requested to repair, the crafts she's picked up on her travels, as well as the reviews she's gotten for the jobs she's done--both good and bad!

Repair/Travel Log:

Broken Oven - Shimmering Shallows Isles wrote:
"Fixed up Ms Eucalyptus' stove for her, she gave me some rosemary cookies as a thank you which was nice! The problem seemed to be that the door wasn't sealed properly meaning all the heat was leaking out. I need to find out what works well as a heat resistant sealant so Ms Eucalyptus doesn't have to worry about it breaking again."

Waterwheel - Gladeshadow Province wrote:
"Well then! As soon as I entered the kingdom, I was immediately contacted and asked to help with my largest fixing job yet! A mill's waterwheel had broken, and the owner was quite upset. I honestly wasn't sure what I was in for when I visited the broken wheel, but wow was my heart hammering. I was a little intimidated, but I also couldn't help feeling excited to work on a big project. After a quick inspection of the device, the problem was immediately clear. "Broken wheel" was an understatement. Why, the thing was practically bashed to pieces! There was notable gashes in its wood, and there were splintered chunks scattered about the ground. The surrounding clues definitely seemed to point at a monster attack, though I can't fathom why anything would want to attack a waterwheel. Either way, the job was less about a broken machine part and more about creating a large wooden waterwheel from scratch, because that's what I had to do. Fortunately, there were some fellow builders to assist me, and we were able to craft a brand new waterwheel in about three days. After attaching the wheel and watching it turn slowly in the pouring water, I just had to grin. It was beautiful! I was able to learn many skills pertaining to woodworking while creating this masterpiece, and the mill owner was glad to pay me for my services. So awesome!"

Carriage - Gladeshadow Province wrote:
"No sooner had I fixed one wheel than I was given a contract to fix another one. I had just been paid for the waterwheel and decided a nice break was in order, when this thin green drake rushed up to me and begged for help. He began stammering about a broken carriage and a dinner party that a very important dragon would be late to if I didn't help right away, then he tugged me over to the halted vehicle. It was a fairly simple problem. The front right wheel had completely popped off. I giggled at the drake's anxious pacing, then reassured him that it'd be a quick and easy fix. The carriage's passenger finally stepped out and waited for me to work on the wheel. His name was Teacup, and he was a prince! He was awfully handsome as well. Ahem, anyway-- I got the wheel and reattached it, replacing the worn down piece with a new one. The prince didn't say much while I worked, but he still gave an approving nod when I showed him the fix. I told him that he could leave a review if he wanted, but he just sighed. Later, I accidentally asked him a second time because I forgot I had already mentioned it! "

Water Pump - Gladeshadow Province wrote:
"I thought a nice rest was in order after so much hard work, so I rented a room for the night and fell asleep. When morning came, I decided to be a true tourist and try out a day in the spa. When I arrived at the building however, the owner, Rutabaga, seemed troubled about something and explained that a portion of the hot springs were closed off due to a malfunctioning water pump. I had only done a little plumbing training in the past, but I thought I'd offer to at least have a look at it and see if I could help. She agreed and escorted me into the area. Water was spraying everywhere! As I approached the pipe where it was leaking, I realized that there was an obvious rupture in the metal. All it needed was a nice patching job! After applying a patch to the spot and sealing it, I was able to stop the problem, but then I found another issue on another piece of the pump. Three nozzles on it were too loose and kept causing a lot of issues, so I had to work on those as well by tightening two and replacing the third. Even though I got very wet in the process, the plumbing job turned out to be a fairly quick fix, and Rutabaga let me have a free spa treatment as a reward! "

Furnace - Highkeep wrote:
"It took a while, but I finally managed to locate the city of Highkeep, who reached out to me after my time with the Gladeshadow Province! One of the clan's leaders approached me soon after I got settled in to assist with repairing their furnace! It took a few hours, but everything is up and running now! One of them, Shae, looked a little antsy as I was working, but Niernen assured me that everything was alright! I think Delta, their eldest daughter, noticed my dismay, because she treated me to coffee afterwards."

Mobility Aid - Highkeep wrote:
"While relaxing in the local cafe, a blue Wildclaw approached me and asked if I could assist her friend! I was brought to a small shop littered with trinkets and potion bottles, a green Mirror sat behind the counter. She looked like she was in pain, but her eyes lit up when she saw me. She introduced herself as Maisie, asking if I could assist in fixing her wing braces. She didn't go into too much detail, but they've been really stiff the past few weeks, and it's been making her pain worse. I've never worked on a mobility aid before, but it was clear these braces were long overdue for an update. It looked like some pieces were missing! It was just my luck that the city near my home supplies the parts needed for the repair! Maisie thanked me profusely, sending me off with pay and a cute little knickknack for my room!"

Street Lights - The Undying Empire wrote:
"I have to admit, I have seen quite a lot on this long road of mine but crossing ever new doorways always leaves me breathless. Every visited realm, every new bunch of faces is full of new wonders for me to discover. The Undying Empire was the strangest yet, passing through those golden gates felt like entering a whole new universe, where nothing made sense quite how it should.
Thankfully, a nice, young working lad who called himself Thistle offered himself as my guide around this bout of strangeness. I direly needed one too, because the Empire’s everlasting night and intersocial gaps makes for dangerous exploring at times. Can’t remember when was the last time I kept running into something due to the dark and dim lighting. Thistle had quite a good laugh on my costs, even as he was stuck carrying my toolbox while I was off fixing the streetlamps framing the Empire’s mainstreet. Something the Emperor apparently asked but he couldn’t ever deign to appear in person. Too bad, because I had so many questions.
But, no time to being sad, there was no rest for the diligent and the work was plenty while offering some shallow insides in the Empire’s many factions and strange people. I wanted to explore the old, gigantic Forge - according to Thistle - an remnant of the Empire’s mining days - but it's located in a place called the District of Dust and - again according to Thistle - much too dangerous for a sweet girl like me.
Either way, the work is done and I am off to visit the Black Skies province of the Empire on my way to catch the caravan which will bring me outside the Empire’s borders. "

Security Measures - Black Skies Province wrote:
"I already know that the Undying Empire is parted in eternal night and eternal day, but the sky over Black Skies was neither. Thistle joked that the name must come from the thick, black smoke produced by the many factory chimneys and I tend to agree. Something about this province is so strange, its air is charged with winter and something else makes me somewhat nervous. I was to meet up with the overseer of the largest factory, a man called Aswan and let me tell you, the guy was enormous. Something about coming from beyond the mainland and such, I have to admit I wasn’t listening too closely, because the factory’s inner workings were too fascinating.
My duty, with the help of ever present Thistle, was to put up some additional security measures before those giant machines claimed any more lives. As much as I came to like Thistle over the duration of my stay, the lad has some strange humors at time. While I was putting up new railings and fixed a machine’s worn down cogs and spanners, he shared some of Black Skies’ founding history with me. Apparently the Emperor had destroyed the previous town in a fit of divine rage, causing the forests to be haunted with vengeful ghosts. When I asked if that was true, he just laughed and said I shouldn’t believe every rumor.
Either way, after this my time at this strange, otherworldly Empire is up. As I bid farewell to my short term traveling companion Thistle, I can not help but look forward. "

Stoneshatter Drill - Twisting Crescendo wrote:
"I met a rather distraught dragon today at a construction site, her drill was a total mess of black smoke and rattling noises. I wasn't sure I could save this one, but the client convinced me with the help of a decent treasure pile to at least try. The drill was a nice piece of machinery and of pretty recent fabrication at that. How she managed to destroy such a beautiful thing so quickly, I have absolutely no idea.
After dismantling the whole thing, cleaning it and replacing broken pieces, I gave her a quick course on how to avoid premature wear and overheating. I truly hope it will prevent the poor drill to die in her paws again. She also gave me a small rock as a tip? A bit heartless but I threw it away as soon as she was not looking. "

Telescope - Millicent's Sanctuary wrote:
"I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared when entering the Plague realm for the first time! I'd heard stories of the unforgiving landscape and how only the strongest dragons could survive. The air was hot and sour and I nearly turned back many times, but I had received a written request, and I wasn't going to turn down a client in need!
Some hours later, I met a colorful guardian, Shellsplash . He waved to me and explained that he had written the request for my services. For mechanics were scarce in the Plague Realm, and he couldn't bear to part with his beloved telescope. He led me to his clan, and I was in awe! Everything in the Plague Realm seemed so desolate and unlivable, but he had brought me to a sanctuary! Beautiful homes, running water, flourishing gardens (though the plantlife was a bit unorthodox), and most impressively a massive observatory! Shellsplash explained that this was where he conducted his studies and showed me his telescope. I could tell it had been very loved, but love can lead to wear in even the most durable items. While the exterior of the telescope was in good shape, the inner workings had been worn down and needed a lot of work. Luckily, I was able to fix it with a few replacement gears and new lenses.
As a thanks, Shellsplash showed me the most magnificent constellations and told me all about stars that could only be seen in the Plague Realm!
Though I was once terrified to cross the borders into the Plague Realm, I was sad when the time came to go! I hope I can return one day, but for now, I'm onto my next assignment!"

Robotic prosthesis - Snowsquall Tundra wrote:
"My next adventure brought me to the Southern Icefield to a clan lead by a dragon called Iceborn, where I was told to meet their local blacksmith to ask for work. After talking with the fire Tundra about seafaring for a while - can you imagine, he also went to sea for a long time! - he told me he had made arm plating for a young Skydancer, but the kid broke his prosthesis. He wasn't a mechanic and unable to fix it, so he told me I should go there instead and gave me the plating and a toolbox for the job. I never fixed a prosthesis before, but I think I already have some experience from those wing braces I fixed in Highkeep, so I wasn't too nervous about this job.
When I arrived, I saw a young male Skydancer sitting on a pillow, cloaked by a green garb, with a HUGE bear next to him. I was really scared at first, but the bear seemed gentle and just concerned about his friend. After telling him why I was there, the Skydancer opened his cloak and I did not expect what I saw! Both of his front legs were mechanical! And back legs! And wings! I never thought I'd ever work on repairing a cyborg! One of his robot arms was badly bent. I asked him how that happened, but he dodged the question. He wasn't a very social dragon, but I'll gladly help everyone!
So I started my work that almost felt like I was doing surgery. Inside the rods were some wires and some other things I couldn't quite understand, but it looked like it was mostly still working fine and all I had to do was to carefully bent it back in shape!
After my work was done, I realized what the arm plates I was given were for, so I applied the plating to his arm prostheses, which should make them more durable and less likely to break. He thanked me and seemed quite happy about the upgrades. I really wonder how he go that way, but I felt like it was better not to ask. "
Cavern Entrance - Wispwillow Grove wrote:

From the Southern Icefield I have traveled north to the Driftwood Drag. I was in a market looking for work when my pack was stolen! I was warned that Shadowborn are often tricksters and sometimes thieves, but I wasn't expecting it so soon! Thankfully, the thief (a Mirror) didn't get far. He was stopped by a Imperial who introduced himself as Bentar. Bentar got my bag back, and then asked what brought me to the Drag. When I told him I was looking for work, he brightened. Apparently, he was in the Drag looking for an engineer for a project at his home clan in Wispwillow Grove. We set out for his clan tonight. After a few days, we made it to his Clanlands, where I was greeted quite warmly. Though the hatchlings have been mischievous, the Clan at large seems welcoming and kind. The Guardian who leads them in particular seems keen to be sure I have anything I need. The job Bentar had in mind for me was building a tunnel into one of the isolated caverns. Most of the Clan's living space is in natural underground caverns, but there is one set in particular that is isolated from the rest. The only entrance, apparently, is through the lake. One of the dragons, a Bogsneak named Three, lives in the isolated caverns, but the Clanleader wants an entrance that doesn't require folk to get wet. It shouldn't be too hard. Just got to be careful not to nick the lake.

Would recommend her handiwork to others!

Thank goodness we have so many talented individuals visit our Province! My poor waterwheel had been quite battered, but fortunately this lovely young lady was eager to help. I'm very grateful for her handiwork in creating a new wheel for the mill, and her cheery attitude was very encouraging to me despite the dreadful predicament. I've given her five stars for a good job. She even accomplished the construction in a very timely manner, and my mill is once more running smoothly.

Decent job.

She fixed the wheel on my carriage, but it's not like she deserves a reward or anything for such a simple task. I took away two stars because I don't appreciate being asked to leave reviews, and she asked twice.

This girl knows what she's doing!

Alda did a wonderful job helping me fix a broken water pump. I was really happy with her work!

Diligent and dedicated to her job!

I'm very thankful Alda was able to lend her assistance on such short notice, I do feel bad for jumping before she barely had a chance to settle. She was able to fix up our furnace with some time, but I don't anticipate us having any further issues with it! Thank you, Alda!

Forever grateful!!

Leaving my review here! The parts needed to repair my wing braces are sort of rare around here, which is why I end up putting it off for longer than I should be. Thank the Eleven for Alda!! She had the exact parts I needed on hand, and even sent out an order to have extras shipped to Highkeep!! These past few days of limited mobility have been harder on me than ever before, but now I don't have to worry about repairs for a while!

Grand work

It’s been a long time since I met someone as diligent and warm in person as Alda, may luck and fate favor this one. She brought a little bit of light into the streets of my realm and breathed some new life into my old mind. For the first time the light of the lamps no longer sting my eyes and I will enjoy walking in the light.

Reporting in (?)

I have to admit I am not familiar with the traditions of the mainland, neither are all the customs making sense to me but Mistress Alda offered a willingness to take on a grand portion of my personal work to allow me to enjoy my wedding anniversary with my spouse. The custom of putting up a formal report is not too far fetched, so I am happy to report that the majority of the work done fulfills its purpose to perfection.
Except for the machine Mistress Alda insisted on fixing, this one malfunctioned not long after the Mistress’ caravan has left, however I place the blame for that on the Emperor accompanying her.

Alda worked so fast!

I'm very thankful that Alda accepted to do so much work for me, her quick and thorough repairs allowed me to save a lot of time and heartache searching for a new tool. You can see she understands the sentimental value one machine can hold for someone!

Excellent Craftsmanship!

I admit that I was initially nervous to let another dragon work on my telescope, but within moments, Alda put those worries to rest. She was so careful and focused, and my telescope has never worked better!

Has a hand for small repairs!

I am glad Alda was here to help with the repair work of small and more technical devices. She arrived quickly and did a decent job without asking too many personal questions. The boy she repaired seems to be in better spirits now.

Efficient, Fast, Sturdy Work
I am impressed with the rapidity with which Alda has accomplished the task that was set to her. Our Earth dragons and Tundras have refused to touch the rock that surrounds the lake, for fear of damaging the structure of the lake, but Alda was fearless, despite some of my Clanfolk trying to discourage her (they meant well, being those same dragons that were reluctant to do the job themselves). She has stayed with us longer, she says, than she typically does, to make sure the job was done right, but I think she got done far faster than I anticipated.

Uh-oh, looks like this whippersnapper of a nocturne wandered a little too far from her home lair (#214605 lizzytiki), and now she's off to see the world! If ever you feel the need to exalt, she'd really appreciate it if you could just return her to the home lair, or to the 'Dragons Off To See The World' thread, here. This is not necessary, but she would be very grateful!
