Lynfa

“You’re making me uncomfortable,” admits Gwanwyn after she stares at him for a full minute.

“well that’s your problem not mine,” Lynfa makes a weird scoffing sound and flares her frills. “i’m trying to figure you out and until i do i will keep watching you”

“And obviously I just have to deal with that,” Gwanwyn tries to say it sarcastically, but the mimicking habit kicks in, and the phrase ends up a bit too flat.

“obviously,” Lynfa nods. “unlike others i don’t trust newcomers easily”
Shrugs.
“you seem harmless but nocturnes are very adept at seeming what they are in fact not”

“That’s kind of racist, you know,” he snorts. She’s weird and too blunt, but for some reason he’s starting to like her even despite the obvious rudeness.

“am I wrong”

“Um, well…”

“i thought so,” she flaps her frills twice, most likely amused. “don’t worry if you aren’t a threat to the clan then you have nothing to fear from me”

“And if I am?” Gwanwyn wants to laugh, as she’s so tiny even in comparison with himself and he’s one of the smallest dragons around here, but for some reason her threats sound a bit too real to brush them off.

She stares at him again, eyes hidden in the depth of the polished skull she wears – so deeply that he can’t even see which flight she’s from – and breathes in deeply.

“well let’s just say that you would be very surprised if you are”

Her smile is unnervingly toothy and sharp.

“but not for too long”
