Sparrow not only has clever clawtips, but she has also trained the fins at edges of her wing membranes to be somewhat prehensile. The only thing a skilled mechanic really needs is more hands - which she has her automata D4F1 for, too.
Sparrow became a mechanic primarily to "resurrect" her childhood lizard, Dafi. He remains with her in perpetuity in his new form, D4F1.

Named loosely after Jack Sparrow, because according to Wikipedia he counts as a gentleman thief. press x to doubt (but he IS a pirate, so he counts for the naming scheme anyway)
