Celana

It is cold. The snow is so severe that Celana and her traveling companions can’t see anything. They huddle closely, both for warmth and in an attempt not to lose each other. Celana is at the front, with her trusty compass, leading the way for the others. But the snow makes it hard for her to even see the compass that she is holding and her claws feel so very, very cold. She can’t do this for much longer. “Keep your eyes and ears open! We need to find shelter before continuing much further!”, she yells into the group. Even though they’re close by, raising her voice is the only way for them to hear her. Her troupe looks at her and looks at each other, then nod in understanding.

After a couple of more miles into the storm, one of the others suddenly yells: “I can see a bright light on our left!” As a hivemind, the entire troupe looks towards their left, Celana included. And sure enough, there’s a bright light. Bright enough to cut through the snow and beckon to the weary travelers. Celana knows what to do. “On me everyone! We’re going towards the light!” The group makes a sharp turn and starts walking in the direction of the light. Celana tries to put her compass away, but her claws are too cold to move properly, so she keeps holding onto it for dear life.

As if nature is mocking them, the storm suddenly picks up. Celana hears one of her travelers shrieking, and then her voice fading out. She looks behind her and sees that the small Fae is now missing. The others look horrified. Celana looks at her group, and looks at the dragon who saw the light. “Go on, I’ll retrieve her!” She tells him, before dashing off trying to find the Fae.

It doesn’t take long to find her. Her small body lies motionless in the snow, in front of a rocky wall that has some concerning spots on it. Celana drags her tired and cold body towards the Fae, and buries her in the snow. She turns around and can no longer see the light.

She grips her compass tightly. Now what does she do?
