Socrates spent three semesters at Alligator Clan University of flight as History Major. Later he decided that knowledge has nothing to do with power and changeD his major to science and pursue a minor in magic. In the process of his new major, the nocturne had to get stoned with new battle skills. With new skills came opportunity to fight in more challenging battles and Socrates coliseum rank went from 7 to 11; however, level 11 was still a long way from the graduation required level of 25 which very few reached. In class, his grades were almost straight A's except for the the one B he got in a Tarot Card reading 101. Most dragon's would have been devastated that one class prevented graduating with a 4.0 GPA. For Socrates, it was the beginning of his theory that all magic has a scientific explanation. For example, in Witch Craft 101, Socrates learned about a spell witches used to turn their victims into other creatures. Usually, this spell was used to turn people into frogs. According to Socrates, this was an example of why matter is never destroyed nor created, but what about healing magic?

Although Socrates knows a lot about magic for an Alligator Clan dragon, the nocturne is known as a dragon that does not believe in magic. He will tell you just about everything about any spell, curse, etc. but will always have a scientific explanation how it works.
