  • He has a strong hoarding instinct. Handing away the shiny things that he makes to the people at the Academy can be difficult.
  • Aurum is mostly called upon to make very practical objects - mechanical pieces for the scientists, focuses for the magicians, or weapons or tools. Aurum is very good at making all of these things, but his true passion lies in making jewelry. Unfortunately, most of his customers have to admit... his jewelry is kind of ugly.

An odd golden egg was found left in one of the empty nests of the Academy - one that nobody claimed ownership of or could even claim to understand. The shape of the egg was odd, and nobody could identify the species. After some deliberation, Dean Nocturne decided the egg was likely left by some manner of pest and ordered Lotte to have it disposed of. But Lotte, feeling bad for whatever creature lay inside, instead cradled the egg to her chest and squirreled it away in the little home that she shared with her husband. When it hatched, they were shocked to see a golden hatchling - undeniably a dragon, but of a different shape or form than any hatchling they had seen. They named him "Aurum" after the beautiful golden scales of his body, and raised him as one of their own.
