Biography
I walk through their territory, the magical barriers pass over me like the rays of a warm summer sun. It would be almost comical if I wasn't fully aware of their power and lethality. As I approach their lair many stare out in disbelief as I casually stroll through their defenses as if they are not there, its entertaining really... My musing distracts me as the final barrier to their lair leaves me feeling as if I just got sun burnt. I stop to briefly study it, powerful, extremely so, subtle, almost perfect but still possessing the same weakness that has allowed me to walk into their lair unabided.
An old Guardian well past exalting age approaches me, eyes weary but alert taking in and analyzing everything they see leaving me with the distinct impression of an Arcane.
Theris - "I am called Theris. You are either powerful or extremely skilled, but not necessarily wise walking into our home uninvited."
- "I am here to call this place home."
Theris - "That is bold for one so new to this world, your kind have only just appeared in this world and needless to say its caused a bit of a stir."
- "Of that I am sure, but we are not new to this world we have merely chosen to stay seperate from it until now. For generations my kind has used magical barriers to keep ourselves and our realms hidden and protected from outsiders."
Theris - "Then that explains, you must possess a strong and unusual skill to pass through all our barriers without fail."
- "Not all without fail, the last one left me a little... singed..."
She smiles a knowing grin.
Theris - "That one was created by the leader of our clan Vidya."
- "You are not the leader of this clan?"
Theris - "I am its founder but no longer its leader, the Arcanist called to me long ago, I've remained at Vidya's bidding."
I am startled as a dragon I did not sense or see appear speaks to me as if they were their from the start (a trully unnerving feeling as its happened only a handfull of times in my long life and only when I was young.) A Skydancer of supreme beauty, her power crackling like fireworks at the edge of my senses. The symbol of an Arcanists chosen sits above her forehead yet wearing the sash of her bearing, Plague... I am both in awe and fear of this ones power...
Vidya - "Your power matches my own but you possess a knowledge I lack, as do the rest here, that is what allowed you to walk in here."
- "My kind trace their bearing from the Shadowbinder however my clan is of the Earthshaker's realm. As such I can see the weaknesses in the very foundation of your barriers magics, allowing me to easily slip unharmed through the cracks that no one else sees."
Theris - "Impressive."
Vidya - "Most..."
I can see her eyes study me as only an Arcanist's chosen can.
Vidya - "You came here looking for a home hoping, to use your knowledge to gain you a place among us. A bold plan, considering most clans are hesitant to accept your kind because they are seen as something strange and foreign. As you've no doubt noticed we don't suffer from that kind of short sitedness. From here out you'll start teaching classes on the foundations of magical barriers, you'll also report to me daily where we shall take turns teaching each other what the other doesn't know. Fail in any of your duties and you'll find talons, teeth and breath much harder to slip through then our barriers."
With that she turns and vanishes, no trace of magic anywhere in the air nor felt through earth. Her voice comes suddenly and hauntingly from no where.
Vidya - "Please find suitable accommodations for our new clan-mate, she has long days ahead of her with much to teach... and even more to learn."
I turn to see the old Guardian smiling at me.
Theris - "She likes you."
- "How can you tell?"
Theris - "Besides the fact she didn't tear your wings off after your display of just walking in here like you own the place? Well I'll just let you figure that one out for yourself hahahaha."
Thus began my tenure with this powerful, yet strange and wonderful clan I now call home.
