Rattle

Rattle is an eccentric spiral who is completely obsessed with witchcraft and sorcery. She thinks that she herself has magical gifts because she can “hear spirits speaking to her.” In reality, the sound is just wind whistling through her bird skulls, but nobody can convince her of the truth. She’s set in her ways and her clanmates have essentially given up trying to dissuade her from concocting fake potions or chanting senseless incantations over an open fire. They admire her commitment and creativity, even if it is slightly misguided.

Although childish and gullible at times, Rattle is incredibly kind. She loves telling stories to hatchlings about her magical adventures. The young dragons believe her and follow her around as she tries to “teach” them how to become proper mages. Their parents shake their heads and sigh softly, comforted that their offspring are at least learning about storytelling and creativity. She’s an oddball, definitely, but not malicious, and her antics are starting to grow on the other dragons. Their lives would certainly be far less interesting if Rattle weren’t around. Perhaps she’ll come to her senses some day. For now, they’re just letting her be.
