just holdin my lore questions

100 Lore Questions

1. What is the name of your clan?

As of now, the clan's name is the Onis Packe!

2. Is it considered a clan? A tribe? A group? Other?

It's a pack, though it's undetermined if it will keep this title into the migration to Light :)

3. How did the name originate?

Lore-wise, the clan leader Agrona used to worship a dragon named Onis, and therefore named her little gaggle after him. It's unknown if she still worships Onis, or who Onis even is.

4. What form of leadership runs your clan? A council? A King/Queen/Other? If not, how does the clan operate?

The clan leader goes by the title "pack leader", and is basically just a monarchy.

5. What is the main income of your clan? Is there anyone that manages the money?

As a plague clan(at the moment), they don't really care about money or income; however, to help make the transition to a more "civilized" area like Light easier, they have started profiting off of trade and have even started fine arts such as pottery, sculpturing, and painting to sell to other tribes/clans/whatever!

6. Are certain things more valuable than currency that would be used as such?

Well... currency is currency, after all! However, items such as eggs or (more recently)jewelry are beginning to become very valuable! (jewelry is really just UMAs, btw).

7. Is your clan dedicated to one craft or few, OR do they specialize in many things?

Onis is a pack of scavengers, so most (if not all) of their items come from scavenges that one or a few of the pack make every day! (not to be a stereotypical plague, but bones are valued, since they showed the history of a creature that used to be!).

8. Does your clan trade with other clans for wares, or do they prefer to keep to themselves?

They trade with other tribes and such all the time! Usually they sell their items for currency, however they also trade art and fabric and such :)

9. Is there any enemies to your clan? If so, how?

There is a pack of Beastclans that actively squabble with the dragons of Onis! It started as just a little thing between Agrona and them, but both sides grew and now... yeah...

10. Does your clan squabble with these enemies or other clans often?

Lately they've been sending Dire Wolves and such to steal away the countless hatchlings and familiars... It's getting really bad.

11. Does your clan have many allies? If so, how do they usually interact with each other?

They do have allies, but it's usually through trade; a one headed abber there, a four-crested boggie here... usually just fellow small groups, really. As mentioned before, it's usually trade partners, so they most often don't interact outside of trading.

12. Is there treaties or contracts involved in alliances or is it verbal/based off trust?

No contracts, just trust!

13. Does your clan get along Beastclans or are they all enemies?

Other than the one tribe, the Onis are rather pleasant with most other Beastclans; however, since they live in Plague, there's always a thin tension with them over resources.

14. Does your clan accept Beastclan members? Why or why not?

They like having them as visitors, however its highly recommended that no Beastclans stay, since they can't promise that they'll always be able to provide for/protect them(not that they're weak, some dragons just tend to be more open towards eating Beastclans and nobody wants to risk an incident).

15. If yes, would they have any form of issues integrating into your clan? Would any dragons show distaste towards them?

A Beastclan would probably get eaten at the first notice of low food reserves.

16. Is any specific race of Beastclans disliked? Or certain races seen as less than others?

Serthis are rather hated, and none of the most vocal members actively respect satyrs or serthis(harpies are neutral territory).

17. Are they treated like actual Familiars?

Not necessarily; satyrs are treated more pet-like, but otherwise its more of a "I'm in a position of power, do as I say" relationship towards any Beastclan familiars.

18. Are there any race or animals treated as Familiars?

Really, just most in-game familiars. Actual opinion on the matter varies between each dragon.

19. Does your clan celebrate the Elemental Holidays? Why or why not?

Yup! Since they have a set territory, a small group of dragons will go out to the "capitol" of whatever flight's holiday it is, and bring back the festival items!

20. IF yes, what do these festivities entail? Is it always monthly? Can anyone participate?

A small group go out to celebrate in the flights where the holiday is happening, while the rest have a more chill time.

21. Is any specific element more respected than others, or one more hated than others? If so, why?

Light is seen as the end goal by most members, however the leader Agrona plans on remaining in Plague until the end of her days. Nobody really likes Wind, its too bright...

22. Is any race of dragon more respected or more hated than others? If so, why?

Faes, Spirals, and Veilspuns are kinda unanimously seen as naturally weaker, and therefore unfit for Plague-life. Nobody really hates them though, just kinda undermining of them. Also, Aberrations are kinda feared(kinda into forced respect) and bogsneaks are seen as natural wonders. Nobody really likes Imperials because Lightweaver replaced them for a reason.

23. Can all forms of elemental magic heal?

Yes, however some is used more than others; plague dragons rarely heal, and therefore it's not really known.

24. Is all magic absolutely elemental (strictly to the in-game lore magics) or are there general forms of magic any dragon can use? If so, how do they work?

For the most part, it sticks to the in-game lore; however there are more general forms of magic that just... naturally exists in each derg.

25. Is any certain magic more powerful than others?

Nope!

26. Are there such thing as enchantments or curses? How would they work?

Not that I've thought of :>

27. Are tomes important to magic users? Why or why not?

Rarely, and usually only for spells that originated from other flights.

28. Are certain things or places able to amplify ones magical abilities?

Not really!

29. Do dragon have to be in certain conditions to be able to perform their magic? (Ex. An Ice or Nature dragon would not be able to perform their abilities in the Ashfall Wastes.)

nope!

30. Can a dragons magic become naturally more powerful over time or would they need any form of training to help them become more powerful?

both :>

31. In-game lore says only water can be seers, but can any dragon be able to do the same regardless of element? How do they receive future prophecies without the influence of a Deity?

That's not something I've incorporated into my lore, so I can't answer that,,

32. Does your clan have any dragons dedicated to researching and studying magic?

Nope

33. What about a court magister or someone who is very knowledgeable in magic/arcane that gives advice or helps with magic/arcane matters?

Nope

34. Can dragons use magic to shape or create things?

depends on the derg!

35. Can ones magic influence or read someones mind?

(see above answer)

36. Do your dragons use magic to attack others In combat? Can any element engage in magic combat?

Yes to both!

37. Do your dragons worship the deities?

Yes! (most, at least,,)

38. Do dragons worship only their deity of their element, or would they worship another deity, if at all?

Depends on the dragon!

39. Are there dragons that don't believe in the deities or hate them? If so, why?

Of course, both are in Onis; however, its more of a "that one god literally caused an apocalypse why do we endorse this" mindset
Also everyone idolizes Lightweaver and respects Plaguebringer, whether they think the two are real or not.

40. Are there dragons dedicated to convincing others to serve their deities?

I plan on bringing in a dragon who does this, however they don't exist yet; for now, the pack's main thing is survival and culture, not necessarily convincing other dragons who don't share the same belief.

41. What is exalting to your clan/dragons exactly? Is it noble? Foolish?

Its more a meh situation; its a reflection on the Dragon's morals, depending on why they go to exalt.

42. How does one go about exalting another? Is it a ritual? A process? Does one decide for themself and leave? Does another help?

One decides for themselves, and it depends on who they plan on exalting to; a dragon exalting to the Earthshaker would prepare differently than a dragon exalting to the Plaguebringer, and so on and so forth.

43. Where would one go to be exalted?

They would travel to a Sanctum or to wherever set posts of exalt registration are located, then be sent off to do their duties.

44. Is it considered blasphemous or crazy to not worship ones elemental deity?

It is considered blasphemous and crazy to outright deny the existence of the deities, but not necessarily either if you don't worship them.

45. Do the worship of the deities play a big role in your clan?

Mainly the worship of the Lightbringer; she is seen as the ideal dragon with the ideal morals! Unfortunately, the distaste of imperials sort of carries along with that...

46. Do any of your clan members hate the Tidelord or are scared because he vanished? Are any helping to search?

None of them care for Tidelord, though they do tease any resident water dragons for their lost deity. Nobody knows if its them being rude or not.

47. Do dragons that come back from exalting seen as higher or lesser for leaving/being kicked out?

They are belittled, because they left for a reason! Was that reason not good enough>>

48. Does your clan or any dragon do any form of sacrificial ritual for their deity? Or offer any items?

Nope; however Agrona does talk about leaving eggs out for the Plaguebringer to claim.

49. Are any breed stronger than another in any way? Or are all breeds equal?

Bigger breeds are naturally stronger than smaller breeds; bogsneaks and snappers are the exception, and both pack very powerful punches for their size. There are variations within the dragons, as well, this is just the general schtick.

50. Can breeds of their "origin element" use their magic better? (Ex. A spiral dragon using wind magic better because the breed originated from Wind more than say a guardian dragon using wind magic)

Yep! Though I don't really incorporate magic into my lore that much, so it doesn't really effect anything.

51. Are your dragon sizes more to that of in-game canon (Fae is the smallest, Imperial the biggest, etc.) or are they closer together?

I try to go by in-game canon, though sometimes I change sizes for convenience or just for pure head canon.

52. Are all dragons similarly expressive or do they all uniquely show their emotions?

Faes are monotone and use their frills, Coatls and Bogs use their frills but aren't monotone, nocturnes copy whoever they're around, and I can't think of anything in particular for the rest, versus Skydancer's flapping their wings whenever they're nervous.

53. Are your dragons able to fly? Or is wholly determined by their wing sizes?

They can all fly, except for snappers!

54. Do Ancients and Moderns get along with each other?

Yep! There's even an Ancient/Modern couple! (Circus the bane and Crocodile the wildclaw)

55. Can your Ancient and Modern dragons breed with each other despite in-game lore?

In theory, yes, but in practice its never happened, despite attempts at combining magic for an egg!(I also head cannon that to create an egg,, the parents combine their magic using a very specific spell, which is why dragons only ever become one or the other, versus true hybrids)

56. Do Ancients and Moderns socialize regularly or do they both have their separate areas within the clan?

They socialize regularly!

57. How did you clan react to finding Ancients?

Intrigued, but after a week they're just more dragons.

58. Do Ancients have a vastly different culture than those of Moderns?

Those aware of their history as ancients tend to be more traditional, but for the most part the longer they're part of the new world, the more similar culture they have to moderns.

59. What about the Obelisks?

"Dragon made of rock?? Dragon... ALIVE????"

60. Are there any ceremonies that might be breed specific?

I've actually been thinking of this for a while, and while there definitely are, the only ones I've thought of was where Skydancer's preen each other, Coatl's do a mating dance, and Guardian's call their mate "their charge" to symbolize their love.

61. Do dragons mate for life or no?

Depends on the dragon! Banescales and Mirrors traditionally do, but some dragons are more interested in having hatchlings than who they actually want to be mates with. Polyamorous dragons also vary on the stance on mating for life or not!

62. Do dragons look down on others for not having a lineage? (G1 dragons)

Considering this is a g1 lair, it's kinda expected! Being G2+ (or canonly having parents) is like... "wow good for you, get bent"

63. Do you have any disabled dragons? IF so how do they receive assistance for such? Are they considered less?

No physically disabled dragons, however I headcanon that a good portion of the dragons here are neurodivergent! They're treated based on what makes them feel safest and try to avoid each other's triggers :>

64. Are your dragons in your lore, anthro, human, or just simply dragon?

Just dragon :>

65. Are your dragons more human like in terms of intelligence or are they more feral/animal like?

Human intelligence, but still some animal instincts!

66. How technologically advanced is your clan? Do they use magic to fuel technology? or just simply magic for all necessary things?

No need for tech, they just use magic for necessary things! This might change when the pack migrates to Light, but I haven't decided that far.

67. Does your clan grow/farm food? OR do they hunt for it all?

They hunt, and for plants they trade and barter(hence why there's always a lot less plants).

68. What does your clan do with abandoned eggs?

Store them away in the vault for safekeeping, whether until they hatch or until they can be sold!

69. Does your clan have ambassadors/representatives? What do they do?

Pack leader Agrona is the representative for all matters, though Circus is going to take her spot in the future! As of now, its just discussions with other clans and trading partners!

70. Do your dragons hold marriage ceremonies of sorts if they were to mate?

Some do, some don't; Circus and his mate Crocodile never did any ceremony, however when Lovett had met his former mate, they had a whole ceremony under the moon, wed by Agrona :>

71. Is architect important in your clan? Do they live where infrastructure is important or no?

Architect is only used when they make a camp for a week or so, before its taken down and replaced in whatever the next location is.

72. Are there any forms of teachers to help with literacy/fighting/magic/history/etc?

The older dragons teach hatchlings what they believe is important; Agrona thinks fighting and hunting is the most important, so that's what she teaches, and Circus thinks art is most important, so he teaches the hatchlings different art forms.

73. Besides forms of leader is there any jobs considered to be more valuable/ important than others?

There aren't really any other jobs, however Circus has unanimously been named second in command.

74. Does your clan have a library?

Nope!

75. What about cooks or any form of servants?

Nada :>

76. Do you have a prison? How is it run? What would someone have to do to be imprisoned?

No prison! Dragons are either banished, slaughtered, or mauled! Treason, egg-eating, murder of pack mates, and anything similar is usually considered bad enough to dictate punishment!

77. Would your dragons have a trial for the offending person? How strict are the laws if your clan has any?

Agrona is the jury and the judge, so she decides anything, as well as decides how strict the laws need to be on a case by case basis; however, lately Circus has been getting a say in these decisions!

78. What is the most serious punishment and the lightest punishment for a crime?

Most severe is being Mauled(because then you're still alive for a bit before dying, instead of just being killed), and the lightest is either banishment or isolation!

79. Do Beastclans believe in any form of deity or God of their own? Do they try to convert dragons?

I have no idea(its not relevant to my lore), but it'd be cool to think that both happen!

80. Are there any planets that your dragons, or others, have found?

Wolftopia was discovered by a teenaged imperial in Arcane, on his first day working at the observatory :)
(reference to the story behind the planet of the same name)

81. Are your dragons developing a way to go into space?

Maybe some in Arcane, but no dragons in Onis are worried about that :)

82. Sorneith canonically has 2 moons. What would they be named if your clan had to name them?

The larger one is Canis, and the smaller one is Ursa, after a forbidden Banescale and Gaoler couple from back during the fire/ice attempted genocide! Very sad...

83. Is the Shade feared in your clan? Anyone "Shade-Touched"?

Most dragons think the Shade is a myth, however the two older ones(Agrona and Lovett, as well as Taboo, though he is in a special situation) all take it very seriously!

84. IS there anyone that worships the Shade? Are they open about it?

Yes, however it's more a fascination with it rather than flat-out worship! She isn't very open about it...

85. Does your clan believe in such a being?

Not particularly, only three or four think its real.

86. IS there a certain dress code or expectation of style in your clan? Any developed styles over time?

Nope! Any can dress however they want to :>

87. What about food? Any food that is considered your clans cultural food?

Pure, clean water is considered sacred! Though, this is mainly because in plague its difficult to find such a thing,,,

88. What of slang? Or sayings? What about swears? Do certain dragons/ dragons of elements have certain sayings/swears? (Think when the Light Sprite yells "Baku Snout!" in G&G out of frustration)

Funnily enough, I just imagine English swears.

89. Are fictional books in your lore similar to books in our real life? What about comics and toys?

They exist, just not versions of the existing fiction novels we have! Toys exist, maybe not comics in the traditional sense...

90. If a dragon was to say try to invent something we have in our modern lives, like a TV or a car, How would other dragons react?

Nobody would see the point of a car, but a lot of dragons in Light or Arcane might like a TV!

91. Do dragons have certain things we do? Like desks for writing, full beds, shelves, etc. Or would they be very different to compensate for their style of living/being dragons? (Like instead of beds, they'd have nests)

They have all of these, but beds are usually circular! Chairs are also varied, since each breed is more comfortable sitting in certain ways :>

92. Do other forms of dimensions exist?

Nope!

93. Does any form of heaven or limbo exist in your lore? Or any form of afterlife?

I don't incorporate the afterlife into my lore :)

94. Dos spirits exist? Can they possess or move things around?

In previous lore yes, but in the current lore its undecided

95. Do dragons hunt for the paranormal if they do exist?

Undecided, since its not a big plot point in my lore.

96. Are there any folktales or legends that exist within your clan? Any Mythical creatures?

Yes! I have a few in drafts(plan on having an elder who loves telling stories at some point), but the biggest one is of a half-beast-half-dragon who shifts at night and eats eggs until he's so full, he turns into a chicken! That chicken then gets prepared to be eaten, but is freed of his feathered form and repeats it again the next night :)

97. What about songs that would be commonly sung among your dragons?

A working song as they patrol the borders! They usually vary depending on who leads the tune, but they range from traditional sea shanties to rough, powerful bellows(think of it ranging from Wellerman or maybe even the occasional The Last Shanty to songs like Chant(from Hadestown)). Yeah, a lot of stuff that has you singing your lungs out!

98. Are hatchlings assigned a job when they're young or can be anything they please once they're of a certain age?

Once they've found something they excel in(hunting, tracking, fine arts...), they take unofficial mentors in those who already work in that area! Since the pack is small right now(many dragons are still a WIP), this process might change sometimes!

99. Do some dragons sometimes eat outside their food groups? Like a Tundra eating meat/fish?

The pearlcatchers and ridgeback have to sometimes eat meat; it makes them sick, however eventually they build up a somewhat resistance(it still doesn't properly nourish them, though, so its very recommended that they actually trade for plants).

AND FINALLY...

100. What does your clan do with gene scrolls/breed changes? Are they even a thing? Magic? Can they willingly change their breed at any time using one? Would they still carry characteristics of their old breed after they change? IS it instant? Gradual? Same with genes? Or do the patterns mix for a bit before changing to the new?

It depends on the lore; as a g1 lair, not every dragon of mine can be a plentiful breed/bogsneak/nocturne! If its canon in the lore that they themself changed with a breedchange, then its usually a painful but quick process, and sometimes they carry over traits from their previous breed! With genes, the old pattern is visible for thirty minutes to a full day after the initial applying of the scroll; as the scales fall out, new ones underneath rapidly grow to replace the old ones in a new pattern!

With scatterscrolls... yeah, I haven't thought that out yet ;-;
