Biography

Silas here holds all of my lore for Twilight Hollow! Also planning on a sick scry for them eventually but I have too many projects that need doing atm :')
Lore is MASSIVELY WIP. Got a lot more planned, just gotta actually write it rrgg
First note:
Heya! If you’re reading this ily, and also I’m sorry for the very unorganized lore. I only just started working more on my lore recently, so some things might be shaky. If you happen to run across any errors, confusing or contradictory lore bits, or general gunk like that, please feel free to let me know! And in general, I’m more than open to constructive criticism, if there's anything that you feel could be improved upon, you’re free to share! As much as I love story making, I hardly–if ever–write my stuff down, so it's inevitable that some things end up wonky.
This is also definitely a dumpster pile of text, I'm hoping to make it more readable soon!
I’m hoping to get some pretty bio stuff for everyone when I have the time for it. (and when I stop getting scared of bbcode,,, which is never)

General world lore:
In my interpretation and personal canon of the FR lore, much of the general story/worldbuilding is a tad bit different.

For starters, the deities are far more removed and ambiguous. Ever since the world pillars shattered, (which in my current timeline happened a few ten thousand years ago) the deities became completely unreachable. As time passed many dragons began to question if they were even real in the first place. Though most dragons hold some amount of reverence for their respective deity–be it of the god themself or the general concept of them–direct worship is sparse.

The world itself is also a bit different as in my version of the world, I've shuffled some places around and changed the general landmass. This gives me room to toss my own places (like the Hollow itself) in territories without having to awkwardly shove it between important landmarks or over already existing places. I also think it lets me put my unique spin on Sornieth!

made with Inkarnate! I recommend it if you need a map for worldbuilding :D This map is very WIP, I hope to finish places and names soon.

The Twilight Hallow is also much larger in lore. The Hollow holds at least 1-5 thousand dragons canonically. Certain dragon bios may reference a non-existent dragon. I may not have that dragon but they exist lore-wise. As much as I really want to have a fully populated Hollow, I don't think owning a thousand dragons is even possible (sadly :( ). As such, the dragons that I currently have in my lair have at least some impact on the clan or lore as a whole or are there for some flavorful worldbuilding. There are more, I'm just way too broke to actually represent them.

Gods (though not nearly as well known, respected, or as world changingly powerful as the Eleven) do exist in my canon. They can be dragon, beastman, or animal, though the majority mentioned/referenced in my story will be dragons. For now, Ambrosia and Gardenia are the only god (or god-like) entities in this story that play a direct role. I may briefly reference drags of mine from my first tab, but nothing that ties them definitively to my main lore. Typically gods in my lore have glow-eyes.

The shade is still an entity in my lore, but far more scarce and unknown. Works more like a modern boogeyman, as (for now) it won't really show up in my version of the world. Many dragons don’t believe it exists, as they feel the gods have dealt with it. Pieces and fragments exist, but they're more like echos than the actual shade. I imagine the shade to be a near love-craftian entity and likely has a similar mind-breaking effect on the poor dragons that happen to run into whatever exists of it on Sornieth.

Elements are generally important, and a dragon’s element will have at least some kind of role in their story. The same general rule from FR lore applies to mine, element is born with and cannot be changed (without severe consequences). It’s only with especially powerful/unique dragons that their element either isn’t correct or even that they don’t have one entirely. Elements are also largely the same theme-wise, but certain facets of elemental lore I’ve either tweaked or changed altogether. Another thing is that all of the elements are in some way very closely linked to each other. Although there are no ‘mixed-flight’ dragons, traits of one parent will still be present in their offspring, regardless of element. For example, a nature dragon with an arcane parent will have a stronger magical kick to their botanokinesis. A water dragon with a shadow parent will thrive better in more abyssal territories. This is less prevalent in rivaling elemental offspring (light/shadow, earth/wind, etc), though can still manifest. It's sort of a remnant of their parent’s alignment. Here are some general notes about certain elements:
Shadow: Entirely about deception, obscurity, and concealment. Also associated with rest, nighttime, twilight, change, trickery, and loss. (with day follows night, a catalyst for time and change).
  • Dusk Priests- shadow dragons dedicated to the practices of shadow and its original intention. They are caretakers of secrets and help with hiding information that must be locked away. Priests are capable of healing through condensed shadow magic, though it is ineffective on light dragons. Refugees, of any circumstance or origin, often seek shelter with them. It isn’t a Dusk Priest’s duty to ask, only to conceal. Their belief is that knowledge can be inherently harmful and that certain information cannot and should not be shared. Though burying information is part of a Dusk Priest’s job, any loss of information is considered a failure, which must be avoided at all costs. Encrypted knowledge is hidden away in catacombs located within every Dusk Temple. Only priests with a certain level of authority can enter these catacombs, and even stronger is required to be able to decipher the spells placed on tombs. If a dragon seeks to uncover information taken by a Dusk Priest, a meeting must be held where the dragon must provide reasoning for their request and proof that re-learning won’t be harmful. It is customary for secrets to be hidden from a Dusk Priest’s mind after concealment, though powerful ones are allowed to remember certain pieces of knowledge. Code words are used constantly and are almost entirely unique to each temple.
    • Dusk Seeker- subsect of Dusk Priests. Goes out in search of knowledge to collect. Typically more aggressive, trained warriors and rogues. Less proficient in healing and more so in damage. Will attack or kill dragons that keep knowledge from them.
  • Gloom Mystics- shadow dragons that focus on practice and traditional usage of shadow magic. Typically very heavily superstitious. Regarded as witches and warlocks by outsiders due to their appearance (heavily robed with masks or hoods), and feared for their proficiency in hexes and curses. Most mystics worship the Shadowbinder and firmly believe all shadow magic to be a blessing from her. Due to their allegiance, a majority of Gloom Mystics will aid fellow shadow dragons (especially devoted ones) for free. For dragons not of the shadow alignment, a fee of alchemical ingredients is typical payment for hex-work or potion crafting. They live in densely shaded areas, such as deep caves, thick underbrush, or heavily foliated swamps. In order to find a Gloom Mystic, a dragon has to be told of them. It's almost entirely impossible to stumble upon a Mystic's home by accident, as heavy enchantments prevent their domain from being seen by random passersby.

This project is AGAIN going through a massive overhaul (shadow momma help me). 99% of this lore is gonna stay the same, but some tiny details are changing. Also I'm gonna actually edit and fix the map again sometime HEHOO
