Biography

Shiryn
-Former: Assassin
-Current: Scout

Shiryn was born into a life of shady business and cunning skills within the Tangled Wood. She was trained from a young age to follow in her parent's footsteps as an assassin within their clan in the Wispwillow Grove. She grew up learning how to become one with the shadows and glowing fungi, wielding deadly weapons, and creeping along without a sound. When she was eventually of age, she became one of the skilled mercenaries serving in her former clan. She spent many years following this path, and it took her some time to learn about ways of life outside of deceit and bloodshed.

She planned and bid her time, until the moment came for her to be able to flee her clan unnoticed. In the dead of night, she fled her way southeast towards the border between shadow and plague. She spent many long weeks traveling this direction, eventually reaching the border between plague and water, and following in southward to where she had heard it would lead to the lands of wind, and the sanctuary she had first learned about in hushed whispers.

Many days she stretched herself thin, traveling as quickly away from her past life as possible, and running on too little food and rest. The Wandering Contagion offered scarce resources and possible sickness and danger she was not familiar with, while the shores of Sea of a Thousand Currents consisted of hard to traverse, rocky beaches. Shiryn had never learned to hunt within environments outside of the Grove, and she had to learn to quickly adapt or risk going hungry. Many of the insects that inhabitated the Contagion offered her more harm than good to eat, and as a Pearlcatcher Shiryn had never had reason to learn to fish growing up, so much of what she scavenged came from within the craggy stones that made up the beaches.

Eventually she found her way to the cliffs and strong winds of the Reedcleft Ascent, and was able to pay for a guide to the territory of Clan Enipsian with the savings she had tucked away when she fled her home territory.
Clan Enipsian had been smaller back then, but as was tradition, Shiryn was brought before the heads of the clan to be vetted for security. Shiryn figured there was no use in being dishonest about her situation; sure, she was a dangerous dragon, but she had honest reasons for seeking their sanctuary. Something told her that, whether she was truthful or not, these dragons had the resources to find out who she was and her true intentions.

She was granted safety within the protective cliffs of Clan Enipsian, and eventually offered her talents to be of service to the clan. Shiryn now acts as a scout for the clan, assessing the intentions of creatures who enter the clan's territory, and communicating back to the main guard. Shiryn is able to blend in to the shadows of the cliffs and reeds of the Ascent and spy on who is passing through. If it is creatures seeking sanctuary within the walls of Clan Enipsian, she will gladly guide them towards the entrance of the clan. Possible threats are either reported back to the main guard, or swiftly guided away from the heart of the clan. She is fiercely protective of her new home, and the safety and new beginnings it offers those in need.

During her off time, Shiryn enjoys tending to her collection of fungi, many of them originating from the Wispwillow Grove. It is her way of connecting with and mourning the home she once had. She has a particular fondness for a type that glows the same blue as the markings that speckle her own hide.
She also has quite the collection of knives, both decorative and not-so-decorative.
