so many eyes watch from outside
staring through the glass
their voices are growls of distant thunder
and you pray that you they'll pass
for they tell to you strange stories
of wild and dangerous places
of strange and wonderful trails
and wicked hidden faces
the tempest outside grows louder
the window begins to shake
sharp lightning cracks the sky
and you wait for the glass to break
but the battering of the walls
slowly begins to fade
and you glance out of the window
at the mess the tempest has made
the distant thunder rolls
and seaspray hangs heavy in air
the sea at the end of the lane
is waiting for you there
so seek out those strange trails
at the bottom of the ocean blue
you already know what's waiting
for the tempest, it told you

Peace at last. In a room draped with soft velvets and silks the colors of the most beauteous of sunsets, you find solace. Lay down your read and rest and dream as the ocean beyond gently ebbs and flows against the shore. At least, until you hear the voices again. Are they voices, or is it just thunder? It's hard to tell as the storm begins to rage. The voices and thunder roar in unison, and the window shakes as unseen claws and wings and the wind itself batter against it. Eyes stare in from outside, and just when it seems like the entire room is going to be dashed apart, the tempest fades away. Venturing outside, the air is heavy with the scent of rain. In the distance thunder growls ominously. And the sea waves to you, beckons evermore. There's a secret beneath those waves. A fate. A destiny...for whoever will come to claim it. |
