There are rumors which say that Malik was not always a dragon. Some say that he was a sunbeam brought to life by his love for Cassius, god-touched by the Lightbringer's favor. Others say he was once a familiar, transformed into a dragon after playing with an errant scroll left unattended. Perhaps, say the theories, he was once a hoomin.

Malik listens to all of these with only a glowing smile, never offering corrections. Some think he speaks no words of any kind to other dragons. Instead, he is content simply to aid in crafting new spaces for his mate's garden, and speaking in sibilant tongues to the snakes which visit them there.

Malik's closest friend within the Wayward Clan is Sark, the next in line for Clan leadership should something happen to Khelios. They are often seen in the Clan's library together with Aislynn, despite the complete lack of books...
