Biography
One whose Will convinces a star to bend fate is truly a special one indeed.
Anang has earned their place as the patron deity of wishes, and while there are many deific beings who have filled the role before, Anang has proudly held the title for the longest of any, without fading even in the slightest. It would seem that Anang’s wish for tenure still holds strong, unwavering and resolute. It has no doubt been challenged a great many times, but perhaps there is simply no room for doubt in their heart.
In terms of seniority among the keepers of sanctuary, Anang is only the second oldest, however. Kaliirh holds the title of the oldest, knowing the past two Deities who once filled Anlirae’s role.
“Have you found my library yet?”
Anang asks one day over the game of cards and tea the two share. One, a god, the other, a rather unique mortal whom Anlirae favored over all others.
They say on the floor of what would seem once to have been a nice dining room, had all furniture not been shoved off to the side in favor of the smooth, dark flooring.
By now, it was her fourth week at sanctuary, and she’d certainly made herself well known. Or, well, her story had. Of course, with one minor detail missing - that she was not deific in any way, shape, or form, and yet… She held a greater will than most Anang had met, and an even greater capacity to become, more than she was already. This was a story they hoped to watch unfold with as few surprises as possible.
Perhaps, she was one of Anang’s favored mortals as well, given how many times her wishes had swayed him into altering her destiny’s trajectory. And Anlirae’s wishes… well. He’d never been one for expressing them, much less daring to wish at all, for anything. But for her? That wish was swiftly growing, even if the Godling of cosmos denied it.
When the inquiry is met with a slow shake of the head, they sigh, drawing a card from the pile.
“Pity. I think you’d rather much enjoy it. The sands of the stringed hourglass can tell any tale, even that which isn’t even written yet.”
She smiles, then. Lovely. How Anang yearned to share the way, and see her enjoyment for themselves. But, the paths of sanctuary needed to be learned, if she ever were to find a place here like she would slowly be growing to wish, very soon.
“I suppose I better wish to find it, then, when I go wandering next.”
“Don’t cheat. You know I would struggle not to heed such a wish. It was a challenge for a reason.”
“What challenge?”
The soft voice of Anlirae struck them with a start as he stepped into view. The mortal burst into a grin at his presence, brightening the room tenfold, it seemed like, even though the room was precisely as soft lit as it was before.
“‘Lirae! Are you here to join us?”
“Only if Anang tells me more about this challenge of theirs.”
Anlirae’s eyes leave her for only the briefest moments to pin Anang like a bug on display, and as he sits, he waves the floating lights just above them much higher, and much brighter than before.
“I challenged her to find my library. That’s all, I promise. Nothing of any dangerous sort, I would never.”
“Hmm.”
