Biography

The Exiled
Everglade Lasher Shadow Runestone
Quote:
Where are they?!
Theme Song: Tadashi- Henry Jackman
Narjie was the clan’s head of the Guard, responsible for the safety of every dragon within. She was Blackfeather’s best friend and guardian.
She has been betrayed.
Stabbed in the back by her Charge.
Narjie used to be a dragon who valued work over play, but now only a shred of her old self remains, buried under the mourning of a failed Guardian. She was gruff and bossy. She had no tolerance for stragglers: if you weren’t doing what you were supposed to be doing, you would be punished. She took everything seriously and had virtually no sense of humor. Narjie liked order: everything had its place and that place was to be respected. Change was bad, and the established order of things was what was right.
She abides by the last rule. Change brought only darkness to her life.
Narjie was born into a clan that valued the ability to fight over anything else. As a result, she learned the basics of fighting at an early age- there was no time to dawdle and learn when the Search would begin. The Search would prove her a true Guardian, and she must have the strength to defend her Charge, whoever or whatever they may be.
The Search itself began when the instinctual drive did. As soon as she felt that it was time to leave, she did- in the middle of the night, when nobody saw her go in the pitch-black of the Tangled Wood. She decided to start in the Sea of a Thousand Currents, the homeland of Guardians.
She wandered the area for over a year, but when it turned up nothing, she headed west. She flew from the Cloudscape Crags in the Southern Icefields to the Pillar of the World in Dragonhome and back again. But when she decided to search the Wood, her home, she finally found the fruits of her labor in a feisty young Fae with an ambition.
Blackfeather, she called herself. Narjie knew that the Fae was her Charge, and the Fae accepted her. Blackfeather showed her around the beginnings of her riverside lair, where around five or so dragons were living. Narjie realized that if this clan was to become something, it would need a Guard to keep it safe. She asked Blackfeather for permission to form one soon after joining.
Blackfeather agreed, and Narjie set to work. She recruited any dragon who was interested in fighting. Narjie grew closer to her Charge, becoming her personal advisor and best friend.
Until the Beastclans attacked, all was well.
The Beastclans in the area had grown more active, and Narjie, fearing an attack, tried to beef up her defenses. But Blackfeather, under the influence of the Skydancer Serakem, insisted that they do more.
There weren’t enough resources to do what Blackfeather and Serakem wanted, so he blamed her. He blamed her in front of the entire clan, whenever the Great Room was busy. When the Beastclans attacked, naturally, the fingers were pointed at her.
Narjie saw right through Serakem’s power grab, but there was nothing she could do to stop him. Blackfeather was too corrupted to listen to her.
Narjie thought that she would be allowed to stay when the clan accused her of allowing an attack and the possible deaths of clan members.
She was wrong.
They exiled her. She was forbidden to enter the clan’s territory on the penalty of death.
Narjie figured it would be wise for her to go, but she didn’t calculate the guilt that would overwhelm her.
She blamed herself for her blindness to Serakem’s threat and allowing him to get into Blackfeather’s personal circle. She blamed herself for the Beastclans attack. When she went back to the territory to see if she could talk to one of the older clan members to relay her apology to the clan, though, she found only emptiness.
The entire clan had disappeared without a trace. And with it, her Charge.
Lost.
She’d failed.
Narjie’s guilt and grief began to overwhelm her. Some days, she would be able to get up and search again for her Charge. Most days, though, she would simply lay wherever she had chosen to rest, haunted by her own thoughts.
She remains in this state to this day- hiding in the Tangled Wood, sometimes searching, sometimes not.
