Coliseum Leveling Strategy

Venue: Kelp Beds

Safe Enemies: Ruche Slug, Octoflyer, Jeweled Octoflyer, Maren Harvester, Maren Ambusher, Maren Wavesinger, Kelp Caretaker, Ruched Sorjourner, Abyss Striker, Cloud Chaser

Aggressive Enemies: Kelp Tender, Mammertee, Relic Eel, Corrosive Depin, Depin, Maren Warrior, Maren Scout, Maren Fisher, Maren Seahunter, Eggull, Blue-Footed Eggull, Golden Porpoise

[/b]Strategy[/b]

1st Fight: You will need to draw at least 2 safe enemies in your first fight for this strategy to work. If you draw 2 or 3 aggressive enemies, back out of the fight by hitting refresh on your browser and try again until you get 2 or 3 safe enemeis.

Once you have an appropriate set of enemies* for round 1, use scratch to build breath until you have enough to use eliminate. It is likely you won't have enough until the second round; that's why you need non-aggressive enemies who will not attack right away, because your first round will be slower than the rest.

*Note: while the "safe" enemies will typically behave a certain way, they will on occasion use heavy hits earlier than usual, so even drawing 3 safe enemies is not a guarantee for a successful first round.

2nd Fight On: As long as you had 3 enemies in round 1, you should be ready by round 2 to begin the main strategy of this build. Using Scratch + Eliminate, you will be able to 2-shot your enemies. Use scratch first to lower their health a little, then eliminate to finish them off. It's good practice to take down the aggressive enemies first if you draw a mix of aggressive and safe, to ensure they will not have a chance to hit you (note: while the Cloud Chaser is technically a "safe" enemy, it's also very fast, so I recommend taking it out quickly when possible).

Boss Fight: The manta runes and wave sweepers are bosses and will take a long time to wear down. If you don't have full breath on your two level 25 dragons, be aware, you may not win the fight (I usually retreat just to save on health potions). However, if you do have full breath, here is the strategy I use:
  • 1st move: Shred (this starts the enemy bleeding and drains a little extra health each time. It's not a lot but anything helps)
  • 2nd move: Use your first dragon to put Rally on your second dragon. This will increase their strength.
  • 3rd & 4th move: Use your buffed dragon to put 2 Eliminates on the enemy.
  • 5th move: You'll be back to your first dragon now, so go ahead and have it use Rally on itself, then do eliminate until you are too low on breath. Then switch to scratch (and use Shred to renew the bleed effect when you're able to keep that extra damage going!).
Additional Notes

Don't ever use the "flee" button. If you do, you will lose some health and you will have to feed your dragons. If you believe you are going to lose a fight, or if you just want to end a fight early, just use refresh on your browser. This will take you out of the coliseum without reducing your dragons' health at all.

Your dragon-in-training will also die a lot. That's normal. They receive the XP no matter what, so just ignore them and let them take those extra hits from the enemies--it saves you on health potions. :)

Also please note that the dragon you're leveling will NOT be able to assist you until you get it to at least level 23, so to avoid it taking up turns in the rotation, do not give it any stones or stats until you get it to level 23. At that time, if you want to begin stoning or stating the dragon, it will be high enough level to assist in the battles.
Leveling Your Dragon

Once your dragon is level 23, if you wish to use the culex build (the way my dragons are currently statted), do so as follows:

Level 23: Give the dragon Scratch, Shred, Eliminate, and Rally. With the extra slot on the 2nd row you can use sap if you want--that slows enemies down--but I don't usually bother because the Scratch + Eliminate combo is so effective I never even need to use it most of the time. Give it 3 berserkers on 3rd row, then on the 4th row give it 2 ambush stones. Hit the "Lock Stones" button to lock in your stones and get the stat points from them, then apply points to strength until you get to 126 STR (or until you run out of points).

Level 24: Finish getting your STR up to 126, then put the rest of your points into QCK.

Level 25: Get your QCK to 58, then use any extra points in AGI (I usually end up with 8 or 9).
