In another life, Sweetheart would have saved her clan. But it was her older sister who fulfilled the prophecy given to the clan's founder long ago, thanks to being born a pearlcatcher. Her younger sister was hurt, and desperate to prove herself, and left the clan vowing never to return, no matter what.

Sweetheart watched in quiet resignation, feeling little attachment to the clan around her. Oracle's eyes skipped right over her, focusing on the bright future of one sister and the uncertain path of the other. She loved her sisters and her parents, but this clan held no destiny for her.

Instead, she decided to go out into the world, seeking some other path. Perhaps she'd live a quiet, happy life. Or maybe she'd find excitement, and adventure. If her path carried her back to her birth clan some day, well, that was up to fate.

Sweetheart had wandered from her home clan for a long while, rarely settling in one place for more than a few months. Though she learned many things and heard many a story, she still felt like she was looking for something she didn't know the name of.
While not exactly what she was looking for, she did discover that she had a knack for navigating dangerous and disorienting parts of the world that would get most other dragons lost for weeks. Taking advantage of this talent led her to the Southern Icefields and, eventually, the quiet town of Pinewick. Though she initially intended on continuing past it like many visitors to the town had, she found herself entertaining the idea of staying for a bit longer. And then a little bit longer, until she was officially made part of the clan.
She was quickly welcomed in- some of even thought she had already joined many weeks ago- and eventually became a guide for dragons travelling through the mountains and to the Fortress of Ends itself.
