| An ice egg was found in the Boreal Wood, rescued from a group of shade-touched Hoarfrost Maulers by Luxis, Bariq and Nadina. Found with him was a shield, the crest of which was a briar knot surrounding a rose and a crown. No one in clan Wandering Tree knew anything regarding this crest, and so they adopted the stoic guardian that hatched from the ice egg as their own. |

| The mystery of this shield haunted Raaic the moment he was old enough to know what it meant. This was a relic of his lost family, the family he had been stolen from. It was the only clue he had, yet it lead nowhere he could follow. He spent his youth training in combat with the guardian and the mirror that saved him. Once he was old enough, he returned to the Boreal Woods. There, he beseeched all he crossed to tell him anything they knew about the briar knotted shield. Neither dragon nor beastclan had anything to share.. |
| Though he did not feel the call, he embarked on The Search, hoping perhaps that would reveal something. This venture proved no more successful than his first. He could sense his charge only faintly. Anytime he thought perhaps it was one way, something would shift, and it'd be another. No matter how hard he tried, no matter how far he searched, his charge felt no closer than before. It was almost as if something, perhaps an enchantment even, blocked him. |

He returned to clan Wandering Tree. Grim resignation of a life condemned to unfulfillment settled on his guardian shoulders. He became a guard for the clan, shutting down any hope that he'd find his lost family. At least he had until the day his lifelong friend Aless returned from her own wanderings. Clasped within her jaws was a mysterious rose, a rose that carried the scent of his charge. But when he questioned her about its origins, Aless claimed a hex had been placed on her memory to keep it secret. She only knows that she was tasked with protecting the enchanted rose and an enchantress's instinct that all would be revealed in its proper time. This was of little comfort to Raaic who longed for purpose and for his family. A rift began to form between them, their long friendship soured by secrets. But without any other lead, Raaic waits and serves the clan that raised him as its stalwart guard. |
