Biography
Beatrix
In her youth, Beatrix was a prankster like the best of them, even surpassing the skills of some of the best Shadow tricksters. She had mastered every trick in the book, and used her innate magic skills to execute them perfectly. And when she had mastered every trick that had been done before, she made up new ones, and mastered those, too.
But Beatrix is elderly now, and she can't do her tricks as well as she used to. In addition, many of the dragons around her no longer find her pranks endearing; that's why she was evicted from her home clan, and had to join the Clan of the Striking Bolt. So Beatrix has stepped down from the heights of her mischief-making days, and retired.
Retirement has not, however, cleansed Beatrix of her mischievous nature, and she still has plenty of tricks up her sleeve. Poor Coquina has to be careful when she's taking care of Beatrix, as her youth makes her Beatrix's favorite target, and Beatrix always gets the better of her. Beatrix may be old, but she still has plenty of tricks up her sleeves.
In addition, Beatrix has discovered a facet of retirement she had not previously considered: Hatchlings love her. Hatchlings see her like a wise grandmotherly figure. And hatchlings love pranks just as much as Beatrix does. So Beatrix's days are now devoted to teaching the pranks she had mastered to hatchings, and passing on the knowledge of her youth to the next generation. She loves helping and watching them carry out the pranks she's taught them, and she always laughs alongside them when they go well.
Beatrix's current prank protege is Trickertreat. Since Trickertreat is cursed to eternal hatchlinghood, there's no growing out of their pranks. The clan has nominated Beatrix as Trickertreat's main caregiver, the dragon in charge of teaching them a better way to go about their mischief. Beatrix does her best to guide them in the right direction, but can't resist teaching them some more mischief along the way. Her main job with them lies in harm reduction, not curbing their pranks altogether. If Pegasus wanted someone to teach Trickertreat to stop causing trouble altogether, she picked the wrong dragon to mentor them.
Hijinx and Beatrix are close friends, and Beatrix is one of Hijinx's best customers. Beatrix is delighted to find a similar soul in Hijinx, and is happy to buy prank goods from her. She's delighted that pranking has continued to future generations, and is constantly finding herself amazed by the ingenuity found in the prank products Hijinx sells.
One of the best parts of Beatrix's trickery is that nobody ever gets hurt, neither physically nor emotionally. They're always lighthearted pranks that everybody can laugh at together. Beatrix lives by the mantra "confuse, not abuse", and could never hurt a fly with her prank. If anybody were to get hurt, Beatrix would apologize profusely, and likely stop pranking for a while out of shame.
