Biography

GOLDMANE — "History has its reasons."
Goldmane is a lone Aberration in the Clan of the Cyclone. This is quite unusual, considering their regular behavior, namely their choice to travel in pairs. However, this at least means he is less aggressive than most, and is actually willing to get along (somewhat). How nice.

— A formerly reclusive dragon, Goldmane has found it in himself to gain a job where he wouldn't need to interact with others too much, however it seems many clan members still visit. As the Historian of the Clan of the Cyclone, he knows every incident and seems intelligent and.. well, he has to be friendly. Poor guy basically forced himself to be nice.

CYCLONE CLAN CHRONICLES (INCOMPLETE)
This thriving clan was once not as prosperous as it is now. It has gone through many things, met many adversaries and accomplices in the past to result in the peaceful group you see now. Oh? You are interested in how it went? Very well, then. Let us start all the way back in the beginning: the Founding.

The Founding
Stormsoother, an adventurous female Tundra, and Grasshopper, an ambitious male Fae, are the ones who made everything possible and started a little group, the Travelers of the Breeze. At first, it was a small community who followed the wind depending on the direction it blew. Their little band consisted of Stormsoother, Grasshopper, Petra, Turek and Seawind. Somehow, they all got along. Then, they met Kelptiger, who settled down with Petra and went through a renaming ceremony. He is now Kelp, the male Pearlcatcher who is still around today. Anyway, enough of that, let us proceed. Kelp and Petra, the two mated Pearlcatchers, had eggs who hatched into three identical Pearlcatchers that looked entirely like the father. Their names were Prairie, Sapphire and Moss. However, shortly after they all reached adulthood, the parental dragons sent them out to explore the world in the name of the Travelers of the Breeze. Prairie went to honorably serve the Windsinger, Sapphire went to join a different clan as a representative of their little group, and finally Moss traveled to the Sunbeam Ruins to serve the deity Lightweaver. Unfortunately, Kelp and Petra have lost all contact with them.

After that, the little group (let us call them the TotB for short, it will be easier for all of us) set out far from home one day. The wind was harsh on that fateful afternoon, and they were blown all the way out to the Tangled Wood, the domain of the Shadowbinder. It is there that the TotB met a fellow Veilspun, namely Stargazer. Again, the two Veilspuns Seawind and Stargazer were quick to get along nicely. Stargazer decided to join the group, and the winds decided the next day that they would depart from the Tangled Wood and return to the Windswept Plateau. Eventually, after everything that happened, the so-called small group, TotB, grew into what would now be considered a clan. It was then that the clan was named Clan of the Cyclone (CotC). It was because no matter where they went, no matter what happened to them, no matter how far they flew, the winds would always lead them back to the origins of their home, and the starting point for everything: the peaceful Windswept Plateau. It was as if their travel path formed a cyclonic circle around their origin point.

Ice Age
After days of being restless (come on, the lack of an adventure would upset nearly anyone, surely?) the CotC eventually met the winds of change. Turek even met his match, a female Imperial named Windrider. What a lovely pair! They had four eggs which hatched into four beautiful Imperials. Azuregold, Rainbow, Violet, and Sunset. If you couldn't tell, it was Grasshopper who helped with naming the young dragons, considering how he took his own name and appearance into consideration and used the same logic for them. Anyway, let us move on to what happened next. Same situation with Kelp and Petra's children once they were fully grown, unfortunately. Azuregold ended up leaving to serve the Windsinger, while Violet followed Azuregold's path, occupying supposedly the same job as him. Anyway, if you were wondering why Rainbow and Sunset were not mentioned, they stayed behind to accompany their parents. How nice of the two, right?

Anyway, at least one week passed after that. The winds were blowing desperately towards the south, another sign for the CotC to leave behind their current location. They landed in the Southern Icefield, domain of the Icewarden. Whilst traveling, unfortunately, the clan did not do so well due to lack of resources and very few patches of land (ice?). They have tried turning towards the local ice-aligned dragons, but all they were met with was rude rejection and open hostility. Although, luckily, they met two partnered Gaolers, Glitch and Tiger. The two joined the CotC, and they shortly left the Southern Icefield after. The winds had lead them back home. This keeps happening, huh? Anyway, the two.. you guessed it, had eggs! Three, actually. The children were named Ash, Smoke, and Violet. All were male Gaolers, not a single female hatchling in sight. The three stayed for a while, yet Ash decided to leave to a different clan in the name of the CotC. Smoke and Violet stayed behind, occasionally helping out the other dragons. Actually, don't even ask how the female Imperial hatchling and the male Gaoler hatchling had the same name, specifically Violet. That part is irrelevant, although the Imperial duo did feel a little insulted at the fact.

Still As.. Stone
The clan was steadily growing from there. Actually, it still is, but grammar correction isn't important here. They were hoping to expand their supposed influence, recruit more dragons, and other stuff. For once, the winds were calm, tranquil. Yet, eerily silent. The wind was blowing towards the northern edge this time, all of the members thought quietly. Stormsoother was the first to make a conclusion. "We must leave the Windswept Plateau, at once," she started, almost quiet you wouldn't hear within a mile's radius, "we shall set forth for Dragonhome, Earthshaker's domain."

None of the members dared speak up, or to have qualms about their next wind-led destination. Stormsoother and Grasshopper's words are absolute, after all. So to Dragonhome did they leave, flying and flapping their wings at steady paces. It was a long journey to be made, yet they dared not to stop and rest, lest they lead themselves into trouble and land in the Scarred Wasteland, the Plaguebringer's domain. It was another hostile place, after all, and after experiencing it once they dared not to go through it again. Going there once was a mistake for the windborne dragons. Eventually, after days past, they landed on the edges of Dragonhome. They made camp, a temporary one, and rested. All were tired. This journey would be different from others. For bad or for good, they didn't know just yet. Tiger and Violet, the two Gaolers, were going to head out and explore the domain of Earthshaker. On their path, they crossed two Obelisks, one female named Moonwatcher, and a male named Sunbird. The four were slow at first, untrusting of the opposite dragon breed (especially considering the Gaolers found out the Obelisks are basically shifting statues. That's a little eccentric, actually), yet they set aside any hostility and managed to get along. The two Obelisks decided to accompany Tiger and Violet back to their temporary camp near the edges of Dragonhome.

All's well that ends well, huh? Or.. did I say it wrong? Ah, who cares. The Clan of the Cyclone gained more members, the very factor they were hoping for. For quite a while now, actually. Unlike their other domain-crossing feats, the clan did not head for the Windswept Plateau immediately. The wind's course did not change, after all, and they are simply windbound. So for a while the decent-sized group lingered, and finally after weeks did they return. On the way back, though, they encountered a lone, unhostile, male Aberration. Yep! That's me, Goldmane! I'm the Historian of the CotC now, so I hope you enjoyed my writing. Do not fret, though, for I am not even close to being finished!

Moonlit Sea
This time, the clan needed to go to the Tidelord's domain, Sea of a Thousand Currents. Or, it would be, if the Tidelord didn't just disappear. However, as dragons under the Windsinger's name, they have no idea on what happened (or if the Tidelord was found at all). This did not deter them from flying forth towards their destination, however, it simply egged them on. The wind was demanding of them, after all. So to the east did they fly, and they landed on the shores of the Tidelord's domain. This is where they had a fateful chance encounter. How nice. They stumbled upon a lone Guardian hatchling, no clan members or parental dragons in sight. Perhaps they were abandoned because they didn't meet expectation (at the time, they wondered who would do such a thing to Wishmaker, since his scales were beautiful and represented the night sky above). I, Goldmane, was the one who named the young Guardian. He is truly a sight to behold.

And, perhaps, the way we raised him and acted around him were the two main factors of his current personality today. He dared not to distance himself from other members of the CotC, and he always had a friendly smile accompanied by a positive attitude. Almost a ball of sunshine, if you would think about it (but his scales are the opposite of the sun). As for how he was named Wishmaker, well.. let me tell you all about it. When he reached adulthood, he set out on a journey to find his supposed charge. He had explained to us that day, that it was his instinct and breed namesake, for he is a Guardian and needs something to protect. Just five weeks later, he came back on our doorsteps, with a sentimental expression. The words he said made us full of joy. "My charge is the clan's hope, the clan's wishes. I will protect it until my end."

He was truly a Guardian dragon. Sometimes, he tells me to smile more. I am not very good at smiling, but he encourages me to do so. With him, I do not have to pretend to be friendly, because he truly is a ball of sunshine. Or would it be he is a ball of moonlight? Either way, he was sincerely a windborne gift to us all. Recently, he found his own familiar, a Vulpine Lamp, one of our own items that recently got a spirit to manifest inside of it. I believe that it would be Windsinger's blessing.

Great Expansion
On just one regular morning, Stormsoother decided it would be a great idea to span our territory across majority of the Windswept Plateau. I mean, I'm not against it whatsoever, but that means more dragons I needed to be around. So I brought that up with her. She mentioned someplace called the Deep Archives, a place for me specifically. And even better, it was a place I could put all the written records in! Personally, I must say she had spoiled me a little bit back there. Heh. Anyway, at the time I wrote this down with the most expensive of quill and ink, we had only three locations: the Low-Hung Camp, whose name I thought was odd, the Deep Archives which is officially my own place, and the Zephyr Nursery where hatchlings go. By the time others come across this writing, I'm sure we will have had more locations with Clan of the Cyclone-aligned dragons residing in it. Time will tell, eventually, I suppose.

However.. Wishmaker quite literally invited himself into the Deep Archives. I'm not bothered by it at all. Okay, maybe I am a little bothered. Stormsoother said it was my place! But.. I did write down last time that I am a little biased towards Wishmaker, in a way. Uh, but the Deep Archives is still my personal location. Right now, as I am writing this, that little (actually, not really little, he's larger than even myself) Guardian dragon is somewhat disturbing me. Okay, maybe not too much. I'm just not in the best of moods, see? You might find that the writing is a little sloppy.. it's because of Wishmaker, obviously. He keeps moving around and nearly tipping things over, but.. I can't really blame him, this cave isn't made for dragons of his stature and size. Why couldn't our clan founder have made this cave a little larger? Oh, and not to mention, the Veilspun pair and the starry-night looking Fae moved in here too just last afternoon. More trouble for me, but as long as they don't talk to me, I won't have to deal with them, and they won't have to deal with me either. What? What do you mean I should go outside and socialize!?

Anyway.. uh.. you probably think the idea of separating the clan members amongst various places may be ridiculous since we are constantly traveling. Well, our ways have changed. A little. Now, when our adventures take us to places beyond the Windswept Plateau, we conduct our travels in smaller groups. Usually, I'm included in mostly all of the groups, since I'm the historian. Stormsoother said it's to write down any events that happen. And.. I guess I get to see new, inspiring surroundings.. specifically for painting. What? You didn't think I like painting? Well, not me. My other head does. Being an Aberration is hard work, having two conscious in a single body.. that both like different things. But, I guess the two of us learned to deal with it. We both dislike the same thing, though: interaction with others. The most terrible thing! Well, semi-most terrible thing. The other is when I spill all of my expensive ink over my newest parchment! It's terrible, I tell you! Utterly terrible, maybe even dreadful, actually.

"I Lava You!"
Just yesterday, I was dragged along with Stormsoother, Grasshopper, Hydrangea and the Wildclaw pair that recently joined us. I think their names were Ignis and Serpens? Anyway, that part doesn't really matter in this entry. This time, we had to go to the Ashfall Waste. Hey, did I tell you I hate the burning temperature? I guess I didn't. I can't believe my other head was okay with it when we arrived. Luckily at the time I was in the town of the Traveler's Cliff, so I didn't have to exhaust myself. Although, apparently while I took time to rest due to the searing heat, Hydrangea had run off and.. apparently stole an egg? From the looks of it, it was a Wind-aligned egg, yet it radiated such intense heat that I would've been fooled to believe it was a Fire-aligned dragon inside of it instead. It took a few hours before the egg hatched, which I thought, at the time, was odd. Perhaps this egg was abandoned, if Hydrangea said he just found it on the floor while walking. Why is every hatchling and egg we encounter abandoned or just left alone to the environment? I'm feeling some déjà vu here.

Ugh, I guess that part didn't matter, either. I'm getting straight to the point, my claws are tired of holding this fragile quill.. it seems more fragile than ever, yet I don't recall doing anything to it. The egg hatched into a Banescale. Now, you see, I'd expect the Banescale hatchling to be of a red, fiery hue in scale color, but.. no, that was actually not the case. It hatched as a blue, ice-cold Banescale with the eyes of a Wind-aligned dragon. You could say that it caused such confusion among us for the next few hours. It was also identified shortly after that the Banescale was a male dragon, so he was named Icefall. Actually, wait, let me fix that. He was named Khumbu Icefall. The dragons in the Clan of the Cyclone just call him Icefall for short. Did I mention his ice-cold scales? Oh, yeah, I guess I did. His scales are actually cold to touch, instead of the warmth you'd usually expect. He also imprinted on Hydrangea, and now he acts almost exactly like the Tundra: adventurous, forgetful in very few occasions, and almost peaceful. Yes, almost peaceful. He almost attacked Grasshopper this morning just because he couldn't understand the Fae. Frustrated, much? But I guess it's semi-forgivable. He's only a hatchling at the time I wrote all of this down, anyway.

Wind's Breeze & Night's Call
Today, Grasshopper just hired a male Obelisk. I heard his name was Anemos. Grasshopper mentioned something about a Representative of the Wind Element. I saw him around recently, and I guess he fits the job. Scales, the brightest of green, and a familiar directly associated with the wind and its own breeze. Their names were quite recognizable, too. Anemos and Aeraki. A nice duo of names, right? Or, at least, I thought so.

Um.. anyway, the point is that this entry is about Anemos. The Representative. I think he's okay, in general, but he's constantly speaking about the things the wind carries. I guess I don't mind, since he seems to enjoy whatever he does. I even heard his statue form is the shiniest of jade, and although I have yet to witness it, he sounds really fascinating. I kind of wish the Representative was a Skydancer instead, though, they're much more fancy than Obelisks in my unvoiced opinion. I can't really speak up about that, since Grasshopper and Stormsoother may disapprove of me. I don't like it whenever that green Obelisk invades the Deep Archives, though. He's way too bright in color, especially indoors, and generally just disrupts the few dragons who decided to stick around here. I guess I can't file a complaint about that part, either. Either way, he's okay but sometimes annoying and usually disruptive. My other head seems to think otherwise, though. Seriously, what's up with him? Oh well. I'll end this entry here.

Hello again. It's me, Goldmane. This entry was written two years after the last. A Pearlcatcher prophet named Nephthys had arrived here and moved to the Deep Archives, where I lived. She looks so mysterious. And for good reason, too. She revealed to have learned about the events of an Imperial's death in the future.. which Stormsoother told me. It was shocking to learn that it was of Turek's kin. I felt quite bad for that wise old dragon after that. I don't really have much to say.. the whole Wind clan has been mourning for days, silently crying in their heads as they try to maintain a positive conversation or either publicly weeping and crying on the floor. It's a shame, really.. we, as a community, have had a lucky streak for months and months. Until the second year of Nephthys' arrival. I know she's not bad, it was what fate foretold, but.. yeah. I can't help my feelings.
