Fern

Anyone looking for Fern will be instantly directed to the library. As the head librarian, and resident of the library, Fern can always be found there. If she isn’t sleeping, one can typically find her sorting through books on the shelves, reading to hatchlings, reading or helping others find books to read! Her whole life revolves around libraries to the point where, though she is valued by her clan immensely as a knowledge holder, she doesn’t have any close friends. One would be forgiven for thinking that this bothers Fern, but they’d be wrong.

Born from a nocturne egg left during the Night of Nocturne, Fern immediately showed herself to be different from her fellow nocturne hatchlings. She sought out books as soon as she was able to walk and was often the subject of much panic from the clan hatchling sitter, as she would often be found curled up in a pile of books, rather than staying put in the nursery, waiting to be put to be bed. This caused a little friction between herself and the hatchling sitter, as she was quite a headstrong little hatchling, though she could also be quite flighty, dreaming up new stories to tell her fellow hatchlings after lights out.

Nowadays, when Fern is not doing one of the aforementioned tasks, she writes. Her favorite kind of story to write are fantasies, although she rarely lets anyone read her stories, as she often takes inspiration from her peers! She also writes little poems expressing her love of reading, and although she displays these around the library, she notices that few dragons pick them up. Unfortunately for Fern, it seems that few dragons want to read about someone else reading! Perhaps she will learn to write something slightly more interesting, or decide to share her novels, but for now, Fern remains tucked away in the library, absorbed in her stories.
