Biography
Cairn
Cairn is a sculptor, using his natural talents in tandem with his earth magic to create beautiful and detailed sculptures. He has no need for models; his memory is so great that he can remember ever crease and scale on a dragon’s face after only gazing at it for a short period of time. Some of his clanmates find his collections of their busts creepy, but others are dazzled by the stone mirrors of themselves. Cairn’s den is a hallway of echoed faces, recreations of his own clanmates as if they themselves surround him as he works.
Cairn has never known a life without his brother, Myriad. Myriad and Cairn share no blood, but they hatched side by side, and are completely inseparable from the other. Cairn has taught Myriad everything he knows about navigating and maneuvering the cliffs, and Cairn’s encouragement led Myriad to begin studying and working with the local harpy tribes. Cairn’s personal favorite sculpture that he has made is a scene from when he and Myriad were hatchlings, playing hide and seek in the rocks.
However, while that may be his favorite statue, it’s not his best. Cairn’s magnum opus is a work in progress — a dynamic scene of Screechfang and Cadfael locked in battle. While the dragons who have seen this sculpture’s in-progress form are amazed by its detail, others are concerned by it. Because thus far, Cadfael’s revolution has been a cold war. No actual battles have taken place, besides petty scuffles. And if that’s the case, what is Cairn’s muse? Is it a figment of his imagination, a scene that only exists in his mind? Or is it a prophecy of things to come?
