Welcome to my cottage. Well, mine enough. I share it, you see. Do you like tea? I have blackcurrant. And mint. And perhaps a bit of rose, though that one's special. Well the water will be warm for a while, there's no rush. Have a seat, if you're staying.

You are not unwelcome, don't take my quiet to mean disinterest. Just appreciating the birds. I do enjoy the quiet and the little noises. And the loud ones really... I'm not going anywhere with this to be clear. I suppose that you wouldn't expect any better wandering into my garden. I don't share it often.

I am not alone here, don't worry. She wouldn't leave me here too long alone. I am happy here but the thorns can still tear. I'm a fragile thing, I think. I won't shatter if you drop me, but I'll crack. Is there a glue for hearts? I'm still here. I haven't shattered yet.

Do you think there is a hope for us yet? I do still. I hope for the quiet morning, and the soft nights, and the thousand little things that make it worth it to breathe another day. I do not know how the story will end, but I would like very much to write it with you.

I am a problem that no has quite yet solved. I am alive and real, and so many things besides. Can you hear the silence? It is always there behind me. Silence is hovering at my shoulder, calling gently to fall back into it and embrace it. Not yet, I think. I have more to do. I cannot come back from that. So I brush it aside again. I chase it away on the best days. I am here. My heart still beats, steady and firm in my chest.

Must a poison always hurt? They make antidotes and medicines from some of the deadliest toxins in nature. But at what point is it dangerous? Poppy seeds can help you sleep. Too many and you'll never get free. Does an Oleander always kill? What brings one to eat a flower? Do they want to consume the beauty and softness of the petals? Roses make a lovely tea, but take care not to swallow thorns.
