Keeper of Riddles

P E R S O N A L I T Y

A fan of riddles, she will gladly take the time to pass back and forth riddles with those that offer them to her. Quick in mind, she is always looking for a new way to challenge herself. Most problems that she tackles are the kind where you must look beyond conventional means to solving riddles, and those are her favorite. Anyone able to solve her riddles are looked upon most favorably among her clanmates and often offered even more challenging riddles in the future.

At her core, Suanpan loves math and the logarithms used to figure out the pattern style puzzles such as the cube of colors. Games are one of the main ways that she passes the time, as she often is caught mumbling to herself before randomly asking a passer-by a question. She will often draw in her clanmates into a discussion about a proof before walking off on her own to use the new gleaned information to better solve whatever conundrum she is handling that day.

As a new arrival to the clan, she sought out riddles and puzzles for her own amusement within the Archives. Finding a relatively small collection, she brought the lackluster smattering to the attention of Thiea who then addressed it with the Greatmother. It was found that the Archive did indeed lack a space where cultural riddles and clan-made puzzles could being kept properly. The collection itself being incredibly small and lacking a Keeper to oversee when others wanted to enjoy a quick game or puzzle. With the help of her mate, Abacus, she took the mantel of Riddle Keeper and seeks to bring a joy of games and puzzles to the rest of the clan.

Now, Suanpan works tirelessly to cultivate and collect as many cultural riddles as she can. Scrolls upon scrolls are written and rewritten to allow other members the chance to engage the riddles in oral sessions and with ink for notes. She keeps each solved or unsolved riddle scroll to track the teamwork that her clan has shown when challenging themselves on her puzzles. She also sends out the ambassadors with her own crafted riddles to the various flights in hopes that by sharing hers she might see them morph over time to return, touched by the other flights and their unique perspectives.
