Backstory Harpuia was a gift from the leader of an Arcane clan that helped out Borah quite a bit when she was an inexperienced leader. She had joked about wanting to find an ugly green dragon to name after a Wind dragon that had been rude to her. Unfortunately, her ally took it seriously, and after searching far and wide, he presented a gift of a green hatchling that was ugly, yet somehow beautiful. While his odd combination of genes and shades of green are oddly suiting to the Skydancer, finding a mate for Harpuia proved nearly impossible. No matter how pretty the potential mother, the offspring possibilities were so hideous that Sanada would cringe at the results when he used his scrying magic to chart the possible hatchlings. The lack of a mate did not bother Harpuia at first, but as he grew into an adult dragon, he began to notice that everyone had a companion except for him. He tried his best to focus on his training, but the feeling that he was not pretty enough to have a mate nagged at him when he tried to sleep in his chambers at night. Eventually, a female Ridgeback was brought into the lair with the intention of her being the lonely Skydancer's mate. Before they could even breed together, however, a male Ridgeback called Lharilstar was brought in. While Harpuia holds the opinion that all male Ridgebacks are ugly in general, he couldn't help but feel that he was even uglier than the ugliest of that breed, and it did not help his confidence that Lharilstar's genes and colorings were beautiful. He was not surprised when Havfrue was taken from him by the Ridgeback. The Skydancer did not fight it at all. Instead, he threw himself into training to protect their leader, deciding that if he could not even breed soldiers or beautiful children to trade with other clans, he would at least be able to live up to the third rule. It was while he was not even looking for it that he found love. At first, it was just casual conversation with the other dragon that he looked forward to each day. Then, he noticed that his heart would flutter at the sight of their beauty and melt at any small amount of attention. When he found himself flying away in secret with this dragon to perform the mating dance, he knew that he had found something special. But it must remain a secret... He fears the reaction of the rest of the clan if they were to find out. And what would their queen say? She had not given up on finding the perfect mate for him after all, and thus presented Persephone to him after the Mistral Jamboree. What luck to have this happen when his heart is only for one dragon. Though he is happy for the stolen moments with his love, his heart aches for what he believes can never be.
