COMEDIC & RESPECTABLE SUMMARIES OF THE CHARACTERS OF WtWB & DitA
(Disclaimer that only a bare sliver of actual character lore is in here, and I could rant about some of the better-developed ones for hours on end)


COMEDIC SUMMARIES

Xavier Green: He is no longer okay. Long and lanky limbs for days. Biggest sweetest puppy. Pure. Don’t touch.

Demitri Rithory: 70% of his life is pain. He didn’t deserve this. Like seriously, wth. Small but will throw down. Somehow always gets targeted.

Sylvie Willoway: Just wants to plant her garden in peace. Keeps a glock in her nightstand drawer. God is a woman and that woman is Sylvie Willoway.

Seth Salem: Somebody tell him it’s okay to show emotion other than snark. Will go ride-or-die for ONE person. Has killed a man. He’s not sorry.

Andromeda Garner: Has the best music taste. Lost an eye and is happier without it. Has bigger biceps than u.

Orion Garner: Never learns. Has broken more bones than should be humanly possible. Hitchhiking 101. Don’t give him sharp objects.

Octavian Garner: Has all the energy of a wet towel that’s been run over on the freeway. Wants to get run over on the freeway. Please do not run him over on the freeway.

Jasper Carrand: A God-fearing Christian man but will gun you down if you touch his adopted babies. You’ll eat bees for him. Pure. Don’t touch.

Damen Koffers: No expression, just biceps. You’ll eat bees for him, too. He’s like a Carebear but jacked.

Vivienne Caster: A complete and total B*tch. Likes blood a little too much. Did I mention a complete and total B*tch.

Calligar Novrell: You’ll eat bees for him but not of your own volition. A savior complex gone horribly, horribly wrong. The end justifies the means, but the means are horrifically f*cked up.

Corrin Arden: He didn’t ask to be here. Traitor but in a good way. Hates himself. Somebody get this man a therapist.

Niko Thorne: Jokes through the pain. Thinks cars are sexy. Pansexual polyamorous trainwreck. He’s lactose intolerant.

Indigo Nell: Has sense but isn’t afraid to be a devious fool anyway. Soft but will hit you. Shot a man in the leg. She’s not sorry.

Cassius Umbra: Faints across the couch like a repressed Victorian noble. All clothes are gender neutral in his eyes and he looks damn good in them. You’ll eat bees for him as well.

Virgil Levine: It’s poisonous, don’t touch it. Floor-gil; I ship it and so should you. You can tell the author hates him because he gets shot twice and dies in a car fire.

Lark Rozen: Every crew’s got that homie with an air of profound sadness about him. Totally not hooking up with Lucifer. He’s friend-shaped.

Lucifer Myre: Wowee a past filled with secrets and trauma. Totally not hooking up with Lark. Spouts poetry when drunk. They’d kiss Homer on the mouth given the chance.

Emily Freighter: Is not interested. Has a slick motorcycle and that’s hot. We will never know the intricacies of Emily Freighter and that’s for the best.

Silus Ozwald: Would punt a child into the sun. Teaches kids swear words. Is 63 and got called a little b*tch. He has regrets.

Garret Carreyway: Whoops, he adopted too many teenagers and now his life is an endless cycle of anxiety and terror. Haha, mistakes were made.

Keith Haler: He’s an idiot. Like seriously he’s so stupid. Couldn’t pour water out of a boot if the instructions were written on the heel. Dammit, Keith.

Knox Wroughtman: Has no lines. Doesn’t want to be here. Tired. Is waiting for the sweet kiss of death. Somebody go save him.


MY CAST OF CHARACTERS, AN ACTUAL, RESPECTABLE SUMMARY:

Xavier Green: The main-est character. Sought after by Salvator for his heightened Variant abilities. Goes through a lot in general and suffers an extended mental and emotional breakdown over the fact that he’s unable to protect the ones he loves from Calligar’s wrath. Gets a hard-won happy-ish ending once all’s said and done.

Demitri Rithory: A main character. Xavier’s eventual love interest who helps him heal and learn to accept who he is ‘n what-have-you. Gets taken as leverage at one point. Deals with stuff regarding his lack of self-worth and his existential anxiety that pretty much permeate every aspect of his life (he slowly learns to heal from this though towards the end of things)

Sylvie Willoway: Supportive side character. The therapist friend who takes in Corrin and Octavian and works with them to get over their respective issues. One of the only non-traumatized (at least not letting the trauma of the post-apocalyptic environment affect her so deeply) characters.

Seth Salem: Major character but in a side character kind of way. Paracosmic’s main strategist and the antithesis to Xavier in all but general moral alignment. Andromeda’s eventual love interest. Somewhat of an instigator at heart. Can’t express genuine emotions for the life of him. (I put a lot of myself into this short little blond anarchist if I’m being honest)

Andromeda Garner: A main character. Exists to bring some lightheartedness back into this mess of a world I’ve created. Dealing with her own issues, but with actual healthy coping mechanisms that so many of my other characters lack. Very “out-there” and boisterous—she rallies everyone into good spirits when things seem bleak.

Orion Garner: Comedic relief. One of Andromeda’s younger twin brothers. Always helping her bring spirits back up but in a fun-loving absurd way that makes him really lovable as a character. Not the most sensible in the room. Constantly bickering with his siblings and acting as an “everybody’s little brother” sort of character.

Octavian Garner: Complete antithesis to Orion and Andromeda. Paracosmic’s only healer. Completely aware that, in the end, the healer is the one with the most blood on their hands and kind of messed up about it. Convinced he’s the only one in the room with common sense. Sylvie’s literal best friend and one of Corrin’s eventual crutches/lifelines.

Jasper Carrand: Major side character. Demitri’s older cousin who took him in when he was at his worst and continues to be a solid rock for him to lean on. Emotional support. A caretaker sort of character and one of Paracosmic’s founders who tries his hardest to keep everyone safe. Loses a lot of sleep over the situation with Salvator.

Damen Koffers: Side character. Jasper’s literal husband. Silent, but in a supportive and warm kind of way. One of Demitri’s closest confidants alongside Jasper. Will act as a human shield in an instant to protect Paracosmic’s members. One of Paracosmic’s founders. The strongest Variant Paracosmic has aside from Xavier.

Vivienne Caster: Major antagonist. Calligar’s right hand and his go-to executive of operations. A strong Destructive who was raised as a torturer during the war and still finds joy in the profession. Gives Demitri most of his scars he accumulates during the storyline after she takes him hostage to use against Xavier. Gets shot by Demitri and dies.

Calligar McCulloch: Main antagonist. Salvator’s head and the one issuing the orders to bring Xavier in to use as an asset for control. Has a vision of a utopian future but goes about achieving it in a not so great way. Views himself as a savior for Variant-kind. I took huge inspiration off of Ardyn Izunia when creating him. Dies after Virgil runs him over in his car.

Corrin Arden: Tragic not-quite-antagonist that betrays Salvator and makes his own redemption arc. Deals with serious problems due to his traumatic time with Salvator as Vivienne’s personal assistant/bodyguard. Falls in with Paracosmic and becomes one of Sylvie and Octavian’s little group. Slowly learns to heal and live life the right way.

Niko Thorne: A main character. One of Nocte Daemonium and one of Lucifer’s closest friends. Has personal beef with Virgil (but doesn’t everybody?) Somehow keeps a hold on his happy-go-lucky humor throughout all of the traumatic sh*t he witnesses/takes part in. A devious little man who likes to think of himself as morally ambiguous.

Indigo Nell: A side character and Niko and Cassius’s love interest. Also has personal beef with Virgil and shoots him in the leg. The closest thing to a voice of reason in the Niko/Indigo/Cass polycule. Artsy and sorta violent. One of Nocte Daemonium.

Cassius Umbra: A side character and Niko and Indigo’s love interest. Comic relief. Helps bring a sense of lightheartedness into the storyline. Lovable and enjoyably dramatic. One of Nocte Daemonium. Helps Niko remain optimistic throughout.

Virgil Levine: A main antagonist. Leader of the Coyote Bones and eventually one of Salvator. Demitri’s detestable ex. Lucifer’s little brother who descended into hard drugs and hedonism in order to cope with the fate he was left in the hands of. Kills both Calligar and himself when he wrecks his car after dousing the engine in gasoline. Kills Lark out of grief over losing Lucifer.

Lark Rozen: One of the founders of Nocte Daemonium. Lucifer’s best friend / on-again-off-again lover. Dies at the hands of Virgil. The emotional support of Nocte Daemonium and the catalyst for the final fight against Salvator after he dies. Just wanted to give Nocte Daemonium a safe and happy life.

Lucifer Levine: One of the founders of Nocte Daemonum. Lark’s best friend / on-again-off-again lover. Virgil’s older sibling. Deals with heavy suicidal thoughts after Lark dies at the hands of Virgil. Immense issues regarding Virgil—the dynamic between the two is intense and not at all friendly. Didn’t handle things well at all, really.

Emily Freighter: One of Nocte Daemonium. The main pugilist of the group. Sort of helps Nocte Daemonium get over the loss of Lark, but goes about it in a caustic and aggressive way due to her own grief. Not much going on with her; mostly here to fill numbers.

Silus Ozwald: Oldest member of Paracosmic. Has witnessed the entirety of the fall and the war and whatnot. A grumpus old man who’s always picking fights with Seth bc the two are practically the same. Says he doesn’t care but really just wants to protect the members of Paracosmic. Grudging father figure.

Garret Carreyway: Second oldest member of Paracosmic. Open father figure to all of these teens and young adults who have happened to fall under his wing. Would die for them in an instant. Worried constantly due to the situation with Salvator, the turmoil with Xavier and Demitri, and the general hostile atmosphere that seems to plague Paracosmic wherever it goes.

Keith Haler: Somewhat antagonist. Part of Salvator only because he finds Vivienne hot and wants to impress her. Not the brightest by any means. Starts having doubts about things after he helps Vivienne torture Demitri and REALLY starts having doubts about things after Vivienne dies and Corrin turns traitor.

Knox Wroughtman: Morally ambiguous. Helping Calligar because he sees it in such a way in which he has no other choice. Salvator’s only Receptor. Catches wind of Xavier first and pretty much tracks him throughout the storyline bc what else is he supposed to do? Hopes to eventually see the utopia Calligar has in mind, but honestly doesn't care anymore.
