A nightfall moth.
She remembers glory and sadness
the days when the sun lit up innocent lands
she remembers when evil tried in vain to break free
these sweet, glorious days are no longer
she tires of counting these evil deeds
she no longer hopes for a world without evil
how could she, when it is all around her?
and she weeps in silence
knowing her tears will not end this suffering
and yet her sorrow at this blemished world does not fade
her tears running dark and stained
mimicking the evil she so hates
with each tear she sinks into the depths of sorrow
what is there left? a torn world, ravaged, never to be repaired?
she hopes, but hope is not enough
for even through her muddy, choking tears, she knows
it is over, and she will not be the world’s savior after all.
