It all began centuries ago...
Pele was hatched into a loving home as an only child. Her mother anticipated her arrival with great enthusiasm as she struggled for years to conceive hatchlings of her own. Her father was a stern dragon, always willing to protect her, but emotionally unattached.
Pele grew up knowing that she was different. It wasn't just the tint of orange in her already mis-shaded wings; something felt fundamentally wrong. She lacked connection to the one element that brought all dragons in her clan together: water.
A young dragon's connection to their element was a crucial aspect of their development. What was an undertide dragon to become, if not a water-born leader? Pele yearned to understand why she was unlike the other young dragons-- what set her apart?
On a hot summer night, she fled home, searching for answers and leaving a trail of sparks behind.
