Maesta
~ Maestus ~
ill-omened, mournful, gloomy, grim
ill-omened, mournful, gloomy, grim
Like her grandmother, Grimm, she was fascinated by the dark and the unknown. Maesta spent a lot of time Practicing magic and sorcery with her. Her mother, Blue, wasn't very pleased with so, as she did also study the dark arts and knew of the dangers that lurk in the darkness. This did not discourage Maesta, rather she found it intriguing that there may be unknown unimaginable horrors. As she grew older, so did her desire to pursue her own studies. Coming of age, she left the nest for Tangled Wood, where she sought to perfect her art and expand her knowledge of the unknown.
Eventually she became a mentor, an archmage of sorts. She would master the dark arcane art and teach younglings things that many thought impossible. She was much loved by her students. However, this success of hers was quite short lived. The longer she resided in the dark woods, the more knowledge she gathered, the more she practiced her art, the more the darkness called out for her. She yearned to pursue her caller, each day more and more. It whispered sweetly, leaving her body shivering at the mere thought that there was still more to discover, even though she thought she knew it all. She knew the risks that this would entail, after all, she was pursuing knowledge never before seen or heard by any dragon before her. The voice however, wouldn't tell her anything unless she did its bidding.
The more she fed the voice, the more bold it would grow, leading her to abandon all she ever had. She became a lost wanderer, a mere dirty trickster in the eyes of the unaware. However, she knew. She knew it all. At least that's what she thought - the voice spoke to her one last time, telling her that the final piece of knowledge is somewhere in the Foxfire Bramble. This was the first time in a while where she hesitated. Could it be? She never ventured there before and only really heard of other dragons' tales. It made so much sense, and yet kind of none. She listened and walked into the dark and thorny forest, never to be seen again.
Some of her former students have taken up the task of documenting her story and spiral into madness, few even tried to search for her. Even fewer of those claimed to have seen her. What is quite frightening - they always describe her the same way - decrepit and pale, head to toe in armor that she could barely move in, and covered in veils of cobwebs and torn what-used-to-be clothes. The only real resemblance of a pearlcatcher being the pearl she clutches for her dear life. Attempts to communicate have been unsuccessful, as she either completely ignored the brave dragon searching for her, or just mumbled incoherently. Many of her students are now teachers themselves, and she serves as a large part of their teachings - forbidden knowledge is forbidden for a reason. They have taken upon calling her the Veiled Lady, Lady Darkness or The One Who Knew.
