Biography
Now my feet won't touch the ground STRONGLY EMPATHETIC ◊ FUN-LOVING OVERLY IDEALISTIC ◊ AIRHEADED Anyone who can't look on the lighter side of life probably won't be able to stand Rysel for very long, as he seems to make it his personal goal to spread his brimmingly cheerful and optimistic attitude to everyone he knows. He's also been accused of 'not being all there', which is perhaps a somewhat mean-spirited way if putting it, but not inaccurate; his mind drifts away from the here and now quite a bit, and has issues keeping focused even on things he enjoys. He ended up regulated to role that was important, but not critical to the clan as a result; that and, he's not nearly as nimble as his lithe frame suggests, being very accident prone and mildly clumsy. They learned quickly to not trust him around delicate machinery. Or delicate anything, really. Rysel seems completely unfazed by any insult meant with the action, and puts his all into everything he does do, simple or not, always offering to help where he can when he has the time, to boot. When he arrived in the clan, it was much like he arrives anywhere; suddenly, awkwardly, and with at least one accident. The accident in this case had been, quite literally, smacking straight into Naliel during a mid-air disaster. He'd been in the middle of being tossed out of the rough skies - like many dragons unfamiliar with navigating the Expanse before him – and couldn't recover in time to stop colliding with the other dragon. Rysel, however, claimed this to be a good thing – better another dragon than the ground, after all – and ended up following Naliel home while insisting he pay her back in some way for helping him. She'd tried to convince him to just go home, but he ignored her and planted himself amongst her clan, saying he'd go home once he'd felt he's properly repaid his debt. Years passed with no sign of his leaving, and one day, after Naliel snapped at him over the matter of his still being her, he matter-of-factly told her he had no home to go back to. Well, not really; none of his former clan wanted him there, he'd never quite fit in with any of them despite his best efforts, and when they finally, blatantly sent him on a mission to the other side of Sornieth in an attempt to lose him, he simply gave up trying. The collision with Naliel had somewhat startled him out of his downhearted stupor, and he'd followed her in hopes of finding a new home. Despite still be occasionally treated as a burned amongst this band of misfits, he fit in here more than he'd ever fit in his 'home' clan. Naliel never brought the subject up again, and that exchange had triggered a turning point in their relationship. It took a while for him to find his niche, but when he showed his talent for writing, assigning him to scribe duties was not only practical, but mostly kept him out of major trouble; everyone just learned to deal with some of his wordiness, and occasional purple prose in what was meant to be official records. Better than blowing up a power conduit, at least. When that ended up not keeping him quite busy enough, he ended up with runner jobs, or was given spare materials to play with – they discovered he was very artistic, and while their clan had no use for the crafts he'd make, they would trade them off to clans who had more interest in such things in exchange for the more practical items they needed. Even after all this time, he still doesn't quite fit, and yet he also fits perfectly – they just made room for him. |
