Serkan was born when his father was young. Once the hatchlings had had a day of rest, his mother had gathered up his sisters and said her goodbyes, leaving him and his father behind. His father broke the news gently; that Reid was the son of their clan's founders, and he had gotten together with Serkan's mother solely to produce heirs. He explained how important it was for the clan to grow strong through the blood of its founders, and he explained that he did not know if he would see his mother and sisters again. This news crushed Serkan, and he has since begrudged his father, for who really wants to be born of duty rather than love? This grudge colors his relationships with his half-brothers and even, to some extent, his children. He is extremely cautious to form bonds with others.

The sole iron-welder of the clan, Serkan is skilled at his craft. He sells his wares, ranging from trinkets like jewelry to more practical things like iron plating for vaults, among the nearby clans. He takes great pride in his work, but keeps that to himself. He is quiet to the point of antisocial, preferring to keep to himself and leave others to do their own thing. He is friendly enough if you can catch him away from the hustle and bustle (and manage to convince him to say more than a word or two), but when confronted with the activity, noise, and close quarters of central clan life, he reacts irritably. For this reason, despite his rank entitling him to more central quarters, he and his mate, Annabelle, made their den on the outer edge of the community. He is devoted to Annabelle, striving to fulfill her every want and decorating their den with flowers and other trinkets, which she loves.
