Like the sky, the eyes that once shined like the sun turned dark as they bore into the lifeless eyes of another. Perhaps it was all a façade, Doyeon thought: another one of those sick tests from Ferrand. But it all felt too real; the strong stench of iron and the deep red that pooled onto the grass and stained her sundress as she embraced her sister’s lifeless body.

Blanche picked up the glass of wine from the mahogany table, swiveling it with a gentle hand and quietly watching as the dark liquid danced within the cup. She glanced at the man across from her before drinking what was left--unspoken words being understood within the comfortable silence.
