Storyteller's Strings Antique Oil Lamp Fangback Figurine Crusty Copper Pot Spectre Loop Atticus Eternalflower: (he/him)

A traveler and salesman (with an affinity for gambling) that's neither here nor there. Atticus travels with his horse (pegasus, I should say), his sales cart, and his handy mandolin. He trades in necessities, gold, and strange valuables that belong in the dark market. If you're looking for something, he'll have it or at least be able to direct you to it.

For a small price, he is known for his services of smuggling individuals across the borders of tight kept cities such as The Hollow, Copper-Keep, and Wildeshore. It's even said he knows the location of the High Court, but refuses to take anyone there or back.

======
(Note: this is about his human story -- I have human versions of all these dragons.)

Vaguely aware of his lineage, his father was a stowaway servant from the High Court and his mother was a being known as a Cherub. Cherubs are shapeshifting creatures whose true forms are something between a lion, an eagle, and a bull with a human face. During the night, they're able to shed their feathers and fur and become human (or should they choose, a lion, bull or eagle). Come morning, they must turn back to their natural form or else they would be cursed to live a half-life. However, no one knows what exactly that entails since Cherubs are isolated and despite their ability to shapeshift, they don't do it very often.

Most Cherubs don't deal with mortals, but his mother took pity on the servant and rescued him from the Court. Instead of leaving him to die, the Cherub attended to him and nursed him back to health, keeping him hidden over the next few months.

One morning, the Cherub didn't turn back. At first nothing happened, but then her magical essence was taken from her and given to the closest mortal, which was the human. His body was not meant to harbor the essence and he passed away soon after.

The Cherub remained human, but instead she found her immortality gone and life dull. She despised her son who even though he was only half-cherub, still had a sliver of more magical essence than her. She kept him hidden until he was six or so and he experienced cruelty of humanity for the first time.

Atticus grew to both love and hate humanity. At the age of thirteen, he was tired of hiding his cherub traits and wanted to become human like his mother. His mother was appalled he would choose to cast off his heritage and took him to a scientist from Copper-Keep who had an interest in hybrids. His mother pretended not to know of his origins and called him foul things. He was almost traded off before a traveler from the Hollow came to Atticus's rescue.

The traveler was born human, but his many years in The Hollow had kept him younger and magic had given him pointed ears and stubby horns that were a blessing or a curse depending on the town. The traveler showed Atticus the ropes of all the hidden passageways between cities, how to use charms, how to hassle, and anything he could possibly need to know about wandering.

Eventually Atticus ended up in the Hollow where he felt like he belonged. But he found the eternal night suffocating and wanted to see as much of the world, and meet as many people as he could.
