She was brought into the clan alongside another female in preparation for the hatching of the leader's egg. She had always known this was to be her duty, and Oriella, the other highborn female, knew the same. Their mates were always going to be pre-chosen.
At least Oriella had the proper colors of a house of Gold Flame. She was born to the Noble house of Blood, possessing XXX colors, and while she was a valuable member of her house, her chances of remaining the single mate of a future leader of the Isle was slim, at best. She knows what happened to Verdigris, Flamecypher and Arctica.
She will not be so naive.
She was higher ranked than Oriella, and so she would be with the future leader of the Isle. But she envied Oriella, as she would be assured a mate that would not stray.
Firestorm of the Noble House of Gold Flame must have sensed her discomfort, as a new male of the Blood house was brought into the clan, and was around the same age as her. Perhaps this was her new mate, or perhaps a fling for a few nesting cycles. She will have to see.
