The intertwined beasts of the south, Sleipnir and Vargr, have always been at odds. Their differences have always been too great, despite their shared curse binding them together; every meeting has been a careful dance of resentment and curiosity. Their children together were a great experiment between the two, and their children have always suffered from it. The November moon brings a breaking point. The beasts, always at odds, snarl and growl as their hunger grows. The early winter of the Southern Icefield has left Sleipnir and Vargr hungry, and hunger breeds anger. Their nest hatches under the feet of a majestic fight, and the hatchlings are left to dodge their parents' fight. The first-hatched flaps their wings and squeaks to intimidate. The second-hatched bites their father's ankles with a single egg-tooth. The third egg does not hatch at all, smashed underneath their parents' bickering. But their efforts are in vain, and soon the two surviving triplets are left to flee into the night. The moonlight and stars guide their retreat, even as the cold sets in and leaves them shivering. The first-hatched traces the outline of a crab in the sky, and takes the name Cancer. The second-hatched traces the outline of a lion in the sky, and takes the name Leo. As they settle into the branches of a tree to rest, they agree upon a name for their lost sibling; Andromeda. The second-hatched, Leo, is much like his namesake. He is bold and regal, an honorable albeit vain beast. He dislikes rigged games, and gives his victims a fair chance at besting him, though he's never lost, yet. It's with great exasperation that he carries the same curse as his mother; he not only requires the souls of dragons to feed upon, but their bodies too. He holds his hunger in great contempt, and carries the scars fit for any beast preying upon the physical plane.
