S U M M A R Y
This stalwart soldier has something to prove in the Sunbeam Ruins. Hailing from the rigid Southern Icefield and having been taught the ways of the world by a gallant old Gaoler, Erik honors strength and discipline greatly and takes great pride in his tenacity. Despite this, he was often pushed aside during his time in the Icewarden's military: due to his nature as a Pearlcatcher, he was assumed to be weak, stuck-up, and cowardly by many of his comrades. This left him with a certain resentment for others of his breed, even if he denied their claims and made efforts to prove them wrong. Though Erik did find a steadfast friend in a fellow soldier who was always at his side in camp and on the battlefield, he would eventually lose this partner, leaving him distraught and alone. In this time of grief he honorably resigned and decided instead to serve as a guard for travelers and merchant caravans across Sornieth. He traveled Dragonhome with Longneck caravans for many months, reflecting on his history and getting guidance from their elders, before ultimately deciding to travel to the Sunbeam Ruins alongside his companion Reyes and see Pearlcatcher society for himself. Now living in the home of his ancestors, Erik has found himself infuriated with the haughtiness of many Lightborn Pearlcatchers and has taken it upon himself once again to go against the grain and show the Light Flight his breed can be more than cowards. He has found himself accepted by Clan Valor and works closely with their blacksmith, Teorah, to keep the clan in fighting shape. |

ADDENDUM: ON REYES
Even amongst the other beastfolk who make their home in Clan Valor, Reyes is a very difficult fellow to read. He says little and tends not to emote much with facial expressions (though, granted, they could just be concealed by the thick mane of hair which often covers his eyes), preferring instead to speak through action rather than words. Despite his guarded personality, nearly everyone in Clan Valor will staunchly agree that Reyes is one of the most reliable people in their clan and will always be around to provide aid or defense even if he won't say much while he's doing it. Reyes readily takes on any responsibility and follows the same strict code of honor his companion, Erik, believes in, making them a highly effective team both on and off the battlefield. |
