Monarch is a liaison for the recordkeeping and scholarly parts of the clan. As the head librarian and researcher, he is often found tutoring the hatchlings and fretting over large stacks of paperwork in his office. He suffers from some health problems due to his XXX chromosomes, leaving him stuck on desk duty, keeping records and doing research on how to grow the trade and culture of the clan. He is incredibly intelligent, working very hard to keep his knowledge and skills sharp. Monarch is widely regarded as a good babysitter due to his demeanor, even with his clumsy manor. He has sired several hatchlings, but only Yarrow still remains within the clan. Despite his position as the sire to a royal baby, he is not a part of the royal family and he and Taragon are not partners.
