Gaia was a member of Clan Kairi in The Scarred Wasteland until 5/23/15.

He was born in Lightning clan and loved it in the Shifting Expanse. However, the clan didn't have enough room to keep all of the hatchlings that were born there and Gaia soon had to leave to find a new clan. His travels took him to the Scarred Wasteland. With the harshness of the landscape there, he sought the safety of a clan living in the Lesser Lair of the Wandering Contagion.

The clan, made up of many older, experienced dragons, never really worked together well and did not flourish in the Plaguelands. Perhaps too many of them were from other lands. Perhaps their leadership was to blame. Perhaps it was simply destiny come calling. In any case, their leader, an Arcane dragon named Verin, decided that there was no point for them to remain together. On the 23rd day of the fifth month of 2015, he called together his Elder dragons and advised them that they all needed to find new homes immediately.

Shocked and disoriented and starving, the dragons had nowhere to go. A number of them banded together to journey in search of new clans, while a few opted to go off alone and take their chances in the world. The group traveling together (Gin, Seira, Isis, Melasune, Etra, and Gaia) found refuge in Clan Diamond Dust, an Ice clan that harbored Elder dragons. The clan leaders there were a bit perplexed to have so many dragons seek shelter in clan at once. A few dragons staying with Clan Diamond Dust for the clan's training program were asked to leave immediately to accommodate the band of homeless dragons. Fortunately, they cheerfully went to serve the Icewarden, knowing their spaces were going to a good cause.

While Clan Diamond Dust welcomed them with open arms, a few of the dragons knew that they were only staying there temporarily -- they still needed to find another clan to call their own. Gaia was one of the dragons who planned to continue the journey to a new home. He didn't feel very at home in the Ice clan - a little too cold, too hectic. He was hoping for somewhere warmer with more of his own kind. And perhaps he'd get a new name there, to start over with his new life. While it was an honor to be named after the Earth Goddess, he still couldn't get over the fact that it was traditionally a female name and, more importantly, he was a Lightning dragon and had nothing to do with Earth clans. If his new clan wanted him to keep it as a remembrance of his past, he'd honor their wishes, but it would be really nice to have a completely fresh start...

The leaders of Clan Diamond Dust knew of a Water clan that was searching for Elder Wildclaws to be flight representatives. In fact, a few months back they helped another Wildclaw, Gleam, travel there to meet a potential suitor. Now she was serving as the flight's Arcane representative and had nothing but good things to say about the clan. A courier was dispatched and happily the reply back was affirmative - Gaia was welcome to join their clan. With relief, Gaia began packing his few belongings and, on 5/25/15, headed to his new clan. Shortly after arriving at his new clan Gaia was gifted with a new name Aule to help with a fresh start.
