Most residents of Roost's Edge know naught of the surprising plethora of valuable and rare gemstones that lie just beneath the dry crust of the Down Underneath. But Diadem knew of the treasures that were just out of her reach. An unsuccessful jeweler in the overworld who just somehow always managed to get gems at their highest price to resell for it's lowest, Diadem moved to Roost's Edge after "sensing" there were more things for her in the earth. "Sensing" meaning getting her future told by a fortune teller with no credentials at all. But for the chance of anything more, even if so very slight, Diadem would take it. Fortune may have double crossed her multiple times, but this would be different, she thought to herself. And to her credit and the fortune teller's bafflement, after running into Feather it seemed everything fell into place for Diadem finally.

The moment Diadem peeked into Feather's trashcan full of precious gemstones and jewels, she felt opportunity fall right into her claws(and also some sense of disgust for Feather's obliviousness). The two now have a steady working relationship, Feather handing her whatever treasures he finds and her giving him pastries or toys in exchange.
