When the Healer was small, xe lost xir pearl. Xe lived in the Driftwood Drag at the time. Xir Clan of course, was very understanding. So understanding, in fact, that they shunned xim. Cast xim out on xir own, until xe could reclaim xir pearl. If xe could reclaim xir pearl. With no leads, the young dragon wandered, heartbroken and alone. Even outside of Pearlcatchers, xe was recognized as being Incomplete without xir pearl. It was a terribly lonely time, as xe made xir way north west, towards the plague border. Xe had no particular reason for that direction. Maybe xe wanted to put even more distance between ximself and the Sunbeam Ruins--after all, what good was a pearlcatcher without their pearl? Even being a shadow dragon, at the time, xe still felt called to Lightweaver. Still felt some loyalty to xir creator. Funny how things like that don't last. Xir journey north, to the Foxfire Brambles, pressed ever more urgent as xe travelled. Days turned to weeks. Weeks to months. Months rolling by faster and faster as xe grew to adulthood without the crucial part of ximself that was xir pearl-- Xe swears that xe found it by chance. It was just. There. In a ridgeback's hoard of 'borrowed' objects near the edge of the Bramble. There, too small for xir age, and xe knew, beyond all reason, that that pearl was xirs. The ridgeback was of course, furious, when he discovered that the pearlcatcher had found and retrieved the pearl. He had of course only borrowed it! Not stolen it! The pearlcatcher couldn't run fast enough to escape the ridgeback's fury, and xe had no real combat experience back then. How could xe? It was the Assassin who stepped in, then, streaking around the ridgeback, leaving deep rends in his skin. It was the Assassin who looked at the dragon who would be the Healer, took her bloody self, and led xim safely to the Shadowwalkers. There xe has been ever since. Xe still loses xir pearl. But xe has become part of the family, xe has grown xir pearl. Xe has made friends. Found a mate. Or two. And with help from the Shield, xe learned. Learned to heal. To be steady, to be careful. To harness xir magic and turn it into something powerful. And Xe's found ximself in a team. Alongside the Mother and the Warrior.
