Maplewind is a traveler. Like a leaf adrift on the wind, he doesn't like to stick around the same place for long. While fascinated by meeting new dragons, he also has a tendency to up and leave without much of a warning. Those he considers trusted can be sure that when he shows up again, it'll be unannounced. But he's such a sweetheart, it's always a fun times when Maplewind drops by! Sometimes he even brings trinkets for the hatchlings to play with.

While he doesn't have many close friends, Maplewind does have many acquaintances. His best friend Antares he met while traveling aboard the Salty Crew's traveling merchant ship, and the two of them immediately hit it off. His easy-going attitude and Antares' interest in his travels started a fast friendship, and the two often travel together. While he doesn't share his friend's obsession with constellation stories, he does do his best to collect any anecdotes he comes across for them.

Despite his drifting nature, Maplewind does enjoy returning to the clan's gardens and visit with the underground clan-dwellers. He gets along best with Squall, for the two both have the breezy charisma that just draws other dragons to them. But he wouldn't call any of them friends, since fundamentally he must leave and see the world, something that clan-dwellers could never fully understand. If they really understood, they wouldn't be living in a hole in the ground, disconnected from the open air.
