Biography
Nebesa
He/they | Heaven-Touched
Mate: N/A
See it's funny because "nebesa" means "the heavens" and it also sounds like nebula and stars and space and whatever. anyway
ALRIIIGHT. Neb time.
Nebesa was born in a clan mostly dominated by Pearlcatchers, with "lesser dragons" allowed to stay if they so chose to, though often regarded very lowly. They were basically born into privilege, but... That was, if they could regurgitate a pearl.
Which they couldn't.
Though Nebesa ate their egg after birth and was properly cared for by their parents, they never regurgitated up a pearl. Their parents waited, hoping that they were just a late bloomer, but when it didn't come in a timely enough manner... One parent gathered Nebesa up in their arms and flew off with them, dropping them into the Starwood Strand from above and leaving them behind for good. Not caring if they survived the fall or not.
Miraculously, the tiny hatchling survived. They also just so happened to land right in front of a curious scientist. A scientist enthralled with the arcane and the stars to the point of worship.
And when a small child descends from the heavens right in front of you, covered head to toe in stars and staring up at you with wide, bright arcanist eyes... well. Who wouldn't take that as a sign?
Kasdeyalin adopted Nebesa as her own, claiming them to be a living, breathing miracle; something beautiful and sacred to be treasured forever. This gives Neb pretty conflicting messages given the reason they are in this forest to begin with.
Neb then grew up to be very sheltered by Kas, kept mostly hidden away in a small cave all for them. If Neb was ever outside the cave, Kas would have to be with them, constantly monitoring their every move. This suffocating supervision took a toll on them - They're an arcane dragon! They have an innate insatiable curiosity! They want to explore!
So, over time, they grew a little rebellious. Sneaking out of their cave sometimes to meet other dragons within Kas's control or helping her cause. This was fine for some time... Until they were caught.
Upset with their disobedience, Kas decided to punish/"reward" their curiosity by allowing them to partake in an experiment themself.
By that I mean. Well. Kas went on to inject them with raw, unfiltered arcane magic, much like she did to Jekal. But with must less administered, as they were still quite small at the time, and she had no interest in killing them.
This led to Neb's eyes bursting into a vibrant, bright glow, shocking Kas out of proceeding further. After all... How brilliant! They looked like brighter, dazzling stars, shining starkly with the colors of Arcane magic. Magnificent.
Alongside horrific trauma, this also led to Neb being blind.
