One of the many rumors surrounding Adrienne holds that she is trying to establish control over a mysterious dimension called the void. A dimension filled with a darkness so overpowering that not even the strongest light sources can push its way through the near suffocating air. A place where reality and dreams blur, where no one can make sense of where they are or if anything they are seeing is real. Some even go as far as to say that the dimension itself has a mind of its own, seeking to capture and imprison whatever poor soul wanders into its trap. Anyone who tries to take control of this dimension and use its bewildering properties for themselves will soon find that the void does not take kindly to those who are daring enough to challenge its control. It will shake them off like a stubborn horse before dragging them into the darkness. But what does Adrienne need such a dimension for? And how does she plan to control it if it will not let her? It's simple. She wants to use the void for what it does best: imprison people. There are quite a few people who Adrienne wants to keep locked away. But among them are a handful that Adrienne desperately does not want to fall into the wrong hands. So for her, the void is a great way to make sure that not only do her prisoners not get out, but they are kept safe, too. But there is the problem of figuring out how to use it for her goals; the void is not exactly the most collaborative. But she will find a way to control it; she loves to be in control, after all. And if she cannot do so directly, then she will find a medium. In this case, Adrienne's medium comes in the form of two dragons: Lyra and Orisa. These two siblings have the rare ability of being able to travel through the void without being trapped thanks to a deal that they made with the dimension itself. Adrienne discovered them after trying to find a way into the void, and she offered them a deal of her own: they would help her lock away and keep track of her prisoners, and she would pay them for their work. In addition, Adrienne promised to help them find the dragon that they were looking for. Though the siblings were skeptical, they accepted the deal, knowing that they could use any help that they could get in their search. The siblings, then, were assigned two different tasks by Adrienne: Lyra creates reliable entryways into the dimension, which is rare in of itself in that the dimension seems to let things in at random. Orisa monitors those who are trapped within in lieu of Adrienne. Neither of them have complete control over the dimension, but they have enough. Enough, at least, to let Adrienne trap her own prisoners in there. The dimension is not particularly happy that someone is trying to control it, but it is willing to leave Adrienne alone for now. She does bring in new prisoners, after all. ▬▬ ORIGIN ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Neither Lyra nor Orisa remember much about their past, nor do they care to. Where they were born, the details of their childhood, how they came across the void-- it's all irrelevant. What use is there, trying to recall memories that only occupy space in the mind? The siblings would much rather focus on things they deem important. And most important of all is the reason why they are in the void. The siblings may not remember how they got to the void, but they certainly remember why they are in there. They are searching for someone within. And they're looking to ask them why. Why did you do that to us? Did it make you happy, seeing us suffer? Are we that insignificant to you? Why did you abandon us? Were you too ashamed to face your mistakes? Do you even recognize that you've messed up? Can you see past that ego of yours? Why did you think you could escape us? Finding this dragon, though, will be no easy task. The void is extremely vast, perhaps infinitely so, and it does not part with its secrets readily. And even before one considers trying to find something in there, they have to think about how they will travel through it to begin with. For most, trying to find a way through the darkness is a fool's errand; you might as well try swimming in a massive tub of honey. Lyra and Orisa knew that they needed to find an efficient way to travel through the void if they wanted to have any chance of finding this dragon. And so the siblings turned to the void itself, offering a deal: if the void allowed them to travel freely within it, then they would help trap and contain more prisoners. The void agreed, although it reminded them that it would not aid them in finding the dragon. It was already going against its own wishes by letting two dragons travel within it freely; that was the most tolerant that it was willing to be. So for hundreds of years, Lyra and Orisa have been in the void, traveling and searching. They have not found Cain yet, but they are not willing to give up.
