Waverly :// Tiny . Rusty . Friendly...? The young trio of drakes stepped over broken stone and slipped between a rusted fence, careful not to draw attention to themselves, and cautiously made their way into the old, abandoned park. "My mom said she used to come here as a hatchling," the leader spoke softly to the others, "Said it was pretty fun back in its prime." They passed a faded sign, paint peeling from the playful slogan 'Big rides and good times!' it boasted in once-colorful letters. The shortest of the three shivered in the shade of the overgrown plant-life, "I heard there was an accident with one of the rides, and the whole place got shut down..." The others glanced at each other, trying to play it off as they finally approached the central gate. In the center stood a large fountain with stagnant water that stank of rotten scum collecting in its wells, leaves and detritus having filled its drains long ago. They retched at the scent, but the smallest dragon excitedly ran forward, reaching a hand towards the top of the fountain, "My mom said a cute little dragon used to stand at the top, and it even waved to guests! I wondered what happened to it...?" The leader shrugged, "If it was able to move, maybe it got too rusty, so they had to take it down?" They began to move beyond the fountain, and deeper into the park, "Or maybe they didn't want anyone to steal the design. If it was at the front, it was probably a mascot." With a collective nod, they regrouped one final time before their expedition to explore the old amusement park, unaware of the eyes cautiously watching from the shadows... Part 2 ►

I hadn't planned on designing a Veil, just because they're expensive right now, but once I found this color combo, I knew I had to have it. I have a fascination with robotics and animatronics used in theme parks, especially once they're abandoned or forgotten (sad, really, and such a waste!), so I thought it would be cool to design a dragon that fit that vibe.
You can see her peeling paint, rusting edges, and fading colors from years in the sun. Her heart aches to entertain, but the years of neglect have driven many to vandalize the small park where she was built and displayed. The surge of elemental magic in recent years has sparked something in her mechanical heart, and so she's begun slinking around in her new, mobile body.
Maybe she guards the park, or she's trying to move past it, seeking out a new home...?
