Calu

Found an oasis/bit of a forest at the desert's borders, where he now resides. He rescues those who he finds lost in the canyons and treats them with sweet water and plant medicines. He's Jura's enemy, since the raiders actually expect to find carcass and dying travellers in the desert to feast up on, but a strong magic seems to protect Calu, keeping the raiders away from his forest. He's a patient, sweet man, and his oasis can seem like a little paradise for travellers who have spent weeks starving in the dry lands. However, Calu urges those who arrive at his oasis to get back on their way, since the forest won't be able to supply too many people at once, and he doesn't know the limits of the protective magic that surrounds it. For all he knows, Juran's clan can be watching them, waiting for a breach on the protection to attack those who arrive.

Calu is constantly carving figures out of wood and placing them on the floor and on trees, which he believes are protective totems in the shape of weird humanoid creatures.
